Royal Queensland Golf Club

Story

The Royal Queensland Golf Club is a golf club and course at the end of Curtin West Avenue, Eagle Farm, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Located beside the Brisbane River is a 10-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD. It has hosted the Australian Open three times: in 1947, 1966, and 1973.HistoryThe Royal Queensland Golf Club was founded in 1920, initially as the Queensland Golf Club. The original course was designed by Carnegie Clark, the Australian Open Champion, and was opened by the Governor-General Lord Forster in 1921. King George V gave the club its Royal Charter in 1921; the King's official letter of notification to the Governor of Queensland was signed by Winston Churchill (then British Secretary of State). Construction of the new Championship course was completed in December 2007. In 2005, the Queensland Government decided to build a second Gateway Bridge over the Brisbane River, which impacted on the original course. The new Royal Queensland layout was designed by Michael Clayton.

Had an amazing experience at this wild and beautifully maintained golf course during PGA week. The course was in great shape, the layout was challenging but fun, and the views were incredible. Despite the busy week, everything ran smoothly — staff were organized, welcoming, and clearly knew how to handle the crowds. The atmosphere was electric with all the PGA excitement, but still relaxed enough to enjoy a great round of golf. Definitely one of the best golf experiences I’ve had. Highly recommend!
I didn’t play the course, but attended the recent BMW PGA event at Royal Queensland Golf Club and was thoroughly impressed. The club was beautifully presented and provided a fantastic setting for a major event, with immaculate grounds and a layout that looked both challenging and stunning from a spectator’s perspective.nnThe event was well organised, with great crowd flow, excellent hospitality options, and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the day. Staff and volunteers were friendly, professional, and helpful, which really added to the overall experience.nnRoyal Queensland proved to be an outstanding venue for a tournament of this calibre, and it’s easy to see why it’s regarded as one of Brisbane’s premier golf clubs. A memorable day and a credit to the club and event organisers.
Came for the pga, highly recommend coming down for it, course is incredible and the layout for the pga championship was great.
Visitor from US, sent a letter introducing myself a few weeks ahead and was welcomed in for a round. Probably one of the best receptions I’ve had in years: pro shop was ready for me with a gift, personalized scorecard, yardage book, and host member to play with. I thought I passed and was in heaven! Such terrific company to guide me through the gauntlet of gorgeously maintained holes, the course and design is definitely royal status. Keeps you thinking strategy on every shot, challenging greens that demand precise landing and roll out to score, and with wind and at 6700yds from what we’d call “members blue” in US, you’re basically playing an extra hole so keep that in mind when you don’t go low ;
Exquisite golf course . Watched the PGA championship here, the event was amazing, the golfers, vibe of the event was so good parking on side streets was surprisingly easy , a good 10 minutes moderate pace . If you needed assistance drive up to Marshalls super friendly
