A quaint pub. From the outside it looks inviting and just like a classic english pub. So I had to give it a try. Not so good stuff first. I would say it needs a really good clean and some new chairs as they were very wobbly on the backs. I didn't lean back in case it broke. You get a massive waft of gas as you walk in. The staff didn't look very happy or inviting...maybe just a bad day. The fireplaces make it feel cozy as does the dimmed lights. The food is self service and you pay at the bar. We ordered battered mussels as a starter $9.60 and they were really good. We also ordered the lunch lamb burger and chicken and bacon sandwich $18 each. These were both lovely and just the right amount. They have cozy couches around the fireplaces and some to the side. One side has bar leaners and sports playing on the tvs, and the other side is more for meals and quiet enjoyment.
The food was exceptional and expertly cooked and prepared. The atmosphere is lovely, the music and the staff are amazing. When it comes to meal I have been there for a few meals and I have not had a bad meal yet and the size of the meal is always amazing and they are worth all that you pay for them.Food: 5/5

Lovely food. Real nice pub lunch. Good service. Probably needs some new white pain inside but otherwise decor is great, real English. Parking: The pub parks are taken by workers from other businesses
The wife and I went here on Monday 2nd January 2023. Started with the garlic bread and the wife had the shrimp cocktail. We then moved on to the mains, the wife had the Guinness Stew and I had the 600g rib on the bone tomahawk steak All I can say is everything was bloody brilliant. The wife raved about the stew and I had one of the best steaks. Rajdeep was very polite and helpful, as for the lads in the kitchen, awesome food. When we go to Palmerton North we will definitely be back.
Bar staff had no personality. No smile and manners. Meal took an hour to come out. Wouldn’t return in a hurry. I’m sure Palmerston North could offer better for out of town customers.Food: 3/5
The atmosphere to me, hasn't changed ever since I first went in there 20+ years ago. Love it. Even more so since sitting by the fire in winter Food: 4/5
Very basic meals for huge $$$ had to collect my own food. Choices for flavours together boggled me. Herb crumbed pork with mustard and apple sauce and a lemon and dill gravey¿?... Nope. Roast potatoes were just boiled and still hard. And salad was just layers of basic but chopped to thick. Would definitely not recommend
A well known place. First time I have actually been thou. Must admit slight disappointment due to it's reputation.... but the food was sold. The dinning room, needs to have it's lights cleaned, and the chairs are sqweeky and feel ready to collapse. Service was do it yourself, and the food service was slow as we were behind a big table. They also forgot to remove my salad... the salad seems out of place for the dish. Edit... desert wasza disaster, I posted too soon. Got our order wrong, super slow service, and the Crème Brûlée was worse than custard
Awesome meal with great atmosphere & service. I got the Beef Cordon Bleu special & my wife got the Chicken Satay. Serving size was great and flavour was bang on.Food: 5/5
