This is to the staff in ward C1. My father, James Clearihan was a patient there for the last couple of weeks. He died last night of multiple problems but he died so well; with dignity and free from pain. He was suffering for sure but the sort of end of life care he received was second to none. You nurses in ward C1 are incredible. Your professionalism is unparalleled; your compassion, empathy and loveliness, made my Dad's ending as bearable as one could ask for. All those who cared for him, thank you. And the doctor's who made the decisions of what and how much and when to administer it....thank you very much too. What a job you all do. I'm not leaving off without mentioning the genuineness of the wardsmen/women, meal/tea ladies, cleaners and anyone else involved with the care and concern of my father. Thank you all.

Last 2 visits to the emergency department were an absolute nightmare . Early January 2018 I arrived by ambulance as I had serious pain in my arms and hips and was having difficulties breathing and felt very ill . I waited in the waiting room for about 7 hours and had to lie on the concrete floor at times to help breathing and a nurse told me I would have to fend for myself as they were too busy . When I finally did see a doctor he said he was the head one that day but i was abused for wasting their time . After a blood test and told no beds were available I was sent home. Next day I went to my doctor and asked for more tests as I was in serious pain and really ill . Well blood tests and subsequent ct scans and then bone scans revealed I had agressive prostate cancer missed by the hospital which had spread to liver lungs kidneys and bones including spine and now there is little hope of cure and I face a long hard road of treatment just to relieve the pain and hopefully hold the cancer back . Having been treated at Robina and University Hospitals over last couple of years for pancreatitis and they had records of all that I thought they would be more understanding but looks like the culture of emergency treatment has turned really bad due to overuse of the system ??

Went to the emergency department the other day with severe pain in my abdomen, I hadn't been able to walk and had been in severe pain for 6 hours which was making me sick. I was there for 3 and a half hours, had a blood test and urine sample done and the nurse gave me some panadene fort. Which didn't take away much of the pain, I was then told nothing was wrong and I went home. I knew something was wrong because I was on such severe pain still and though the night. The next day I went to my local doctor, had to be put on an IV drip and some morfine, anti nausea and antibiotics. They thought I had a cyst so they organized an ultrasound straight after my drip and it turned out I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and have a LOT of internal bleeding that needed emergency attention straight away. If I had listened to the staff and doctors in the emergency department I would be in a very bad way.
