I honestly cannot think of a more perfect B&B experience in all our travels, in any country, on any continent. The house is spacious, beautiful and luxurious, the outlook is serene and everything is exactly as shown in the photos. But the hosts leave me almost at a loss for words. Both are expats who have chosen to make Kerikeri their home. Wonderful, warm, fascinating, well-travelled, and extremely knowledgeable about Kerikeri and the attractions up and down Northland. They have been so generous with their time and given us fantastic advice on day trips – every one of which turned out to be a magnificent day of sightseeing and exploring. They lent us towels and a chiller bag, items that we hadn’t brought with from Australia, and helped us out in so many other ways. It was an unexpected pleasure to spend New Year’s Eve with them and a lovely German couple who were staying over that night. Paik has gone to extraordinary lengths to provide a vegan breakfast for me and a gluten-free breakfast for my wife – I really can’t thank her enough for doing that. And perhaps, above all, they have made us feel welcome and appreciated. We have enjoyed, and thank them for every moment of their company and their warmth. Staying as a paying guest in someone’s home, really does not get better than this. I don’t just recommend it, I think you would be doing yourself a disservice if you missed staying here.

The photos of this home-away-from-home show the modern and visually stimulating architecture of a charming place to stay while visiting Kerikeri. But beyond the obvious visual pleasures, the hosts for this wonderful destination, Paik and Roy significantly enhanced our visit. They provided knowledge and wisdom about both the region and New Zealand and, philosophically, added perspective about the values of life--the reason one stays in homes with people instead of a sterile hotel! New Zealand is a breath of fresh air with plants, birds and nature. These enlightened hosts set a benchmark in our decades of traveling. We recommend this accommodation.

Paik and Roy, thank you so much for your amazing, kind and generous hospitality.Paik, you really went above and beyond during my time with you and it was just lovely. The scenery is beautiful and the pool looked amazing (I wasn't brave enough to swim!)

River stone lodge is way more than a bed and breakfast. It is luxurious and super clean whilst having the feel of staying in a friends house. Roy and Paik are lovely people, always happy to help and great company when you fancy a chat. We booked this last minute after a hotel lost our booking and really landed on our feet. We will definitely be back, again and again.

Both Andrew and I had a wonderful time staying at the Riverstone Lodge. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and made us feel at home, the shower was amazing! Thank you guys for having us, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you and hope to come up again. Best wishes :)
