Nice simple little cafe in Sassafras. The food is delicious and service was good. We had the cheese burger and the chicken schnitzel and they both tasted great. The food portion was just enough which was good because we were hungry. Although I would preferred the home cooked potato wedges to be charred a little bit more so it’s a bit more crunchy. Other than that it’s a great stop to have lunch before sightseeing around Dandenong mountain.
This is a popular place and requires reservation else you won't get a table for walk-ins as it is usually packed. Upon entering the premises, you will be greeted with the aromatic fragrance of coffee and dessert/ confectionery display. Staff were rather attentive and take orders of drinks first while we browsed menu to decide on our food. We were there at about half past noon and their Fish & Chips were already sold out. Ordered a Flat White while my friend had Lindt Chocolate Milk, which is highly recommended. Ordered their lunch specials, Pumpkin Risotto, and it is just delicious! Great place for weekend brunch!
So grateful to find some vegan options in Sassafras, only a couple on the menu but noticed a pastry in the cabinet too as well as a few vegan sweet treats. I had the Avocado bruschetta with vegan feta which was delicious and fresh. The staff were very friendly and my meal came out nice and quickly. I would've stayed a bit longer to take in the lovely seating area out the back however there was a very rowdy large group so that was the only downfall. I took a vegan mint slice for takeaway and it was so delicious! All in all a very lovely cafe and will definitely be back
well portioned and delicious Breakfast.Good value for money and very attentive and kind service. They use high quality ingredients. Liked their smashed avo. I wish they had more variety in their menu for breakfast. Love the outdoor seating area.
My friend and I came here on Wednesday 2pm and it was fairly packed. The wait staff are really friendly. I love the coffee here, if possible I'll order it daily but only have it once a week. The coffee is pricier than the other restaurants nearby regular is $4.50 while others are $4, large is $5.50 so they must know their coffee is better than the rest. We ordered the scones and it came with whipped cream and jam. It was nice and moist. For me it was nothing special but maybe scones are just not my thing.
Great and family friendly cafe! Very nice service and food there is lovely. We had the cheese burger with a special tomato based sauce which I like most. Also the linguine marina should be marinara with prawn is delicious with big portion. Coffee is a must at this cafe and we finished with a nice affogato !
Sasafras has a place called Ripe Cafe Their coffee is out of this world! We visited on a busy Saturday The food made my world swirled! From poached eggs on toast To divine bird seed bars This cafe can definitely boast That they deserve five stars!
This place was disappointing. The main issue is portion. For $26, the burger with wedges included adding bacon an extra $3 totals to $29. Add a 10% surcharge on a Sunday and this burger is the most expensive burger I’ve had in Melbourne. I counted a total of 9.5 wedges with the burger. For the price charged one would expect a lot more. The second issue is the quality of the food: - patty was over cooked in some areas slightly burnt. -bun was very average The staff and service was very good, and constructive feedback was given to the cashier noting the feedback will go back to the kitchen.
Had a lovely brunch in this gorgeous place. It was delicious. Staff is super nice and we loved the atmosphere around the fire place. Looking forward to coming back.
Wonderful coffee and friendly service. Outside section is dog friendly. Delicious BIG breakfast make sure you are hungry, it’s enough to feed 2 people, but I ate it all. Gluten free and dairy free options are always appreciated
