Previously named Richmond Seafood Restaurant, RST has had a name change since it moved to North Fitzroy in 2011, however, its famous seafood specialities are even better than ever.

Specialising in Melbourne's finest, fresh seafood, RST Seafood Restaurant is constantly evolving to bring exciting new flavours to Melbourne's seafood lovers. With an intimate restaurant, a premium function space and a chic bar and garden area that’s become known for its racing events and themed days this place is perfect for all occasions.

Chef Danny Cecchi serves up what’s arguably the best seafood in Melbourne with freshly shucked oysters, a creamy clam chowder and plenty of non-fishy options (prawns, scallops, crabs, Moreton Bay bugs, mussels and crayfish).

You’re sure to see him roaming around the restaurant – always smiling, he likes to personally greet his customers.

Plus he's also been working on a fabulous new menu that is definitely worth checking out. It’s always busy and bustling so bookings are essential for the full RST experience.

I was just craving for seafood chowder and that’s what led me and my friend to this restaurant. It was closer to the freeway and there’s a parking available for customers. Seafood chowder - moment of Silence. I want to savour the flavour so much I had to shut my friend so I can enjoy it… which I did. Scallops, oysters and the seafood pasta were all served beautifully. The chef has spread his love to the meals they served. We will come back again with our husbands. We took the liberty to make them jealous with the food. Service was good and the staff were very attentive. Well done you guys!!!
I wanted to take more pics of the food, but it was all so delicious I forgot. What I *did* take a pic of was the pan fried gnocchi with bay lobster in champagne sauce. Bloody delicious! The chowder was also to die for. Can't wait to visit again. Food: 5/5
It's nothing special on the outside but like all good things the beauty is within. I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the quality of food, is five stars all the way. The restaurant was completely filled for lunch. There is also outside seating but was not used in the day as the weather wasn't friendly but I can see people enjoying themselves on a nice warm sunny day. I definitely will be coming back. There is of street parking and best to reverse in as it's a little bit tight, especially if you have a larger car. Parking: Approximately 10 parking spots
I’m so happy my friend decided to have his birthday celebration here! Food was stunning on some of the dishes were extraordinarily good. As you can see from the pictures, we ordered a lot as we were a big party! The chili prawns, soft shell crab and gnocchi is out of this world beautiful! Strongly recommend that! Generally speaking, everything is good. But please order the three mentioned above!
Went to this restaurant with a group of people and first opinion looking at menu I was concerned I would need to sell my house to pay the bill. But as the night went on the staff were so friendly and professional I had a fantastic night. At the end of the night the account was not to bad averaging out at about 80 dollars per person. This is a fantastic restaurant for a special occasion. Wish I had taken some pictures of the food as it was amazing. If you actually read my reviews I have a super sensitive stomach and don’t eat out much as I pay the price,I am extra pleased to say I walked out full up and not a single repeat. The food was excellent and as a result reasonable value for money.
Had the private room for our party of 16 and ordered a fixed price banquet. The food was fresh and excellent quality and there were heaps of it. One of the highlights was the service. A young man Timmy looked after us and he did a wonderful job. It is an old building that is almost in need of a lock of paint. But this was very minor - all told it was a very good experience.
One of my favourite Melbourne restaurants, relaxed fine dining at its best. Danny, Jodie and all servers really know their craft, friendly and attentive. The food is always superb with so much to choose from, presentation is first class. Mum and I always enjoy ourselves and would highly recommend a visit.
Exceptional service from very friendly wait-staff, the seafood chowder is the best we've had in Australia, smooth and creamy with generous amounts of seafood, possibly only bettered by a restaurant in Nelson New Zealand 10 years ago although that is even debatable. Prawn and scallop crepe was tasty and well balanced. Linguine portion was on the small side but seafood was generous and the sauce was seasoned perfectly. Gnochi was light and fluffy, lobster portion again very generous. Only slight letdown was the quality of the coffee however this is only a minor issue when compared to the overall meal and experience. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes.
In love. Behind the most uninspiring entrance door, is the most spectacular restaurant bar. Decor was a fusion of tavern and fine dining, a little unsure at first. An inexperienced waiter, made up for it with his enthusiasm, and older waitresses maybe the owner/managers were very knowledgeable and efficient. I love it. All doubts were expelled at the first slurp of the seafood chowder! With pieces of scallops, prawns and calamari, this was the best seafood chowder I've ever had. This literally left a smile on our faces at the first taste! Next came the perfectly cooked mussels in an acidic tomato broth, with shallots and capsicum. A large bowl for only $16. Well worth it! Our main meal to share was the gnocchi with lobster tails in a champagne sauce. For $40 a plate, RST was not shy with their lobster portions. The meal was basically 50% gnocchi and 50% lobster pieces. Paired with beautiful wines, this was one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in a long time xx
I've been with my partner for dinner in a Saturday night, the food was just amazing, the service even better, even if the restaurant was busy, we got all the attencion we needed and more. The gnocchi homemade with lobster where just incredible and tasteful. I would like to highlight the prawn Wellington and his incredible texture and the whitebate. If you are looking for a not overpriced seafood restaurant, this is the one for you! Thank you to the staff and see you soon.
