We had a great lunch at Rice Boi in Mooloolaba and can definitely see why it’s so popular. The waterfront location is fantastic, with a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the marina that makes it a great spot to sit back with a drink and enjoy the view.nnThe cocktails were excellent and a perfect way to start the meal. The standout dish for us was the coconut beef—it was packed with flavour, tender, and something we’d happily order again. The curry chips were decent, although they didn’t quite live up to the rest of the meal.nnThe food arrived incredibly quickly, which suits the whole Asian street-food vibe. One small thing I’d mention is that eating some of the dishes with only a fork was a bit challenging—we found ourselves wishing for a spoon or chopsticks at times! nnOverall, it was a really enjoyable experience with tasty food, fast service, great drinks, and an unbeatable waterfront setting. If you’re in Mooloolaba and looking for a casual spot with plenty of atmosphere, Rice Boi is well worth a visit.
Rice Boi really surprised me with their creative dishes and tasty food. One of the good Asian food spots in Mooloolaba that is definitely worth trying. I’m sure you’ll come back for more after your first visit!nnThe food quality is great and the prices are very reasonable for the portion sizes and location. The restaurant is always busy, which shows how popular it is. Just note that indoor dining space can feel a bit tight if you have kids or prams. But overall, still a great experience with delicious food, good vibes, and friendly atmosphere.
Went to Rice Boi in Maroochydore Sunshine Coast and overall it was an outstanding dinner.nWe ordered the crispy eggplant chips, edamame, sticky pork belly, and the 10-hour coconut braised beef. The sticky pork belly was easily our favourite, full of flavour and cooked perfectly.nThe eggplant chips were super crispy, but for us they tasted a bit too fried and heavy. The edamame was a nice, simple side.nPortion wise, this feels better for sharing with a group rather than just two people, especially if you want to try a few dishes. The braised beef was good and tender, but there were too many flavours competing and we did not end up finishing it.nIt was also pretty noisy inside and we waited around 45 to 60 minutes in the queue. Even with those points, the food was still excellent overall and we would definitely come back, mainly for that pork belly.
Service was great. Very busy venue but food came out very quickly. Kingfish Sashimi had great flavours. Drinks were awesome. Sticky pork belly had good flavours but one of the most dry pork bellies I’ve ever had unfortunately. Dry aged duck pancakes were nice but quite small and double the price you’d pay anywhere else. Also didn’t have the lettuce that was included in the menu. Quite hot inside and very loud dragging noises coming from upstairs every now and then. Otherwise nice atmosphere.
This was our second visit and it didn’t disappoint. The seven pepper calamari was nice and light, the sticky pork belly salad had a great balance of sweetness and sourness, and the 10-hour coconut braised beef was incredibly soft, tender, and packed with flavour. They don’t take bookings. We arrived around 4:30pm and were out by 5pm. By the time we left, there was a long queue, though service is very quick. It almost feels like a fancy fast-food style setup. While efficient, some waiters could be a bit more attentive and approachable. Overall, still a solid dining experience.
