I have been a total of 5 times now. The lunch , dinner, massage , bathing and the over night stay are an incredible experience. The staff are absolutely lovely I honestly can not fault this place. I recommend to all of my friends and family and they all absolutely love it and always have the best time! Staff always call you back, staff have always explained the experience clearly to me and when I am there they always make you feel so comfortable. I have also never had a better massage in my life! Honestly it’s the best gift idea or a get away for you and your partner to experience! Thank you to the lovely staff I will be back! Olivia O’Connor.
Great experience. I booked a private outdoor bath, massage and four-course-lunch for my partners birthday. We arrived very early as we overestimated the time we were gonna arrive but the front reception made my partner and I comfortable by serving us complimentary sweets and tea. Service,scenery along with overall treatments was great overall although the four-course-lunch was not on par sadly. It was the only area that was lacking, taste was bland but at least it looked nice on photos otherwise I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a nice getaway, somewhere to fully relax and enjoy!
I had booked this for a wedding night getaway a year ago but they were happy to change the date. They reassured me through the year that my booking was still good and even when they had staff shortages and I had a late book in the worked with me and my schedule to give me and my new bride an amazing g experience. Room was spectacular Food and drinks were presented beautifully and tasted amazing The staff were friendly and helpful. I can't speak of our experience there highly enough!
An exceptional experience. Stunning outdoor bath house followed by an amazing full body massage. The attention to detail here is amazing. We purchased the date night package. A 5 hour experience concluding with a delicious 6 course meal. Abs absolute must do!
It’s genuinely a nice place to go, relaxing and enjoyable. The thing is, with the name “Japanese” it did make me felt baited and scammed. The bath was Roman bath, massage was Thai massage. The dinner contained Japanese elements but just a general western fine dining. Nothing except a little bit of Japanese architecture. I didn’t’t see any Japanese attendant or not at least someone who spoke Japanese. If you’re here looking for true “Japanese experience”, do not come. But if you’re here only to get relaxed, it’s still not bad. :
Amazing place, amazing surroundings, best massage we have ever had, best Japanese food we have ever tasted, beyond exceptional service, we have decided to make this a regular thing. We felt all our stress just melt away from the moment we arrived. Missing this place already.Service: 5/5
Couple, Weekend, “Date Night” experience: 50 minutes private bathing with cocktail and 6 course dinner $810, no treatments. Mixed feelings: while we really enjoyed our experience at Mountain Retreat, would I say it’s worth the price? Probably not. The grounds are stunning and a lovely surprise coming off of a quiet, dirt road. Staff member at reception was lovely and welcoming. We were told we would get a 10 minute warning when our time was almost up, but didn’t receive one. Luckily I was keeping track of our time so we would make our dinner reservation. The private bathing areas are really cute and relaxing. However, I do mimic the opinions of some others where you just felt like the finishing touches and details were missing - all really small things that normally wouldn’t matter but when you consider the price you expect them to be of higher quality. Things like: one public toilet, only body wash in the shower no shampoo or conditioner, no robe or slippers I’m aware these are available for hire but again boosting your spending further, when at high end hotels it’s included, or things like the change area: only one towel provided for bathing and shower, hair dryer is plugged in at a high powerpoint and then left on the shelf with the cord going all the way across - I get it, I hear myself, these are all tiny details but we’re talking upwards of $800 for a 3-4 hour stay or upwards of $2400 for a nights stay. It’s these little touches that can just make a place go from average to utterly perfect. We had only the 50 minutes bathing which is not a lot once you get settled and changed. Not to mention your shower and dressing time when it’s time to leave. Would be great to have an option to extend this time at booking. Dinner was a fantastic tasting and textual experience. Maddy was a lovely host and offered detailed descriptions of every meal. Her cocktails were outstanding and she was lovely to talk to. Wouldn’t book that particular experience again. I would be tempted at another time to try the nights stay. But it wouldn’t be an ongoing place to visit unless I saw the prices reduced.
Second time to the retreat. The first time some of the facilities were being built and the food missed the mark. This time it was a whole new experience. More rooms were available and the 6 course meal was the highlight of the stay. Would have posted the rest of the dishes but it looked so good it was in my mouth before I could pick up the phone. Rooms: The rooms were Japanese Themed. The bath room is amazing. Food & drinks: I was really impressed by the food this time. 6 courses, tasty interpretation on modern Japanese cuisine.
If I could give 0 stars I would. We did the date night experience - $1200 for a couple and we were expecting the world. The place is a complete scam. If you see a 5 star review in their reviews then it would definitely be fake. Take your money elsewhere as you will be severely disappointed.
Delightful haven. Perfect backdrop for an exceptional experience. We booked the Balinese retreat. Blissful massage, scrumptious dinner and brfst. Stunning dwelling with unique character design and furnishing, remarquably clean. A large expanse of manicured private gardens, brought to life at night with beautiful landscape lighting. A big thank you to those we met : Debbie, Alice, Waru, Asko, Maddy and the chef! for being all customer-focused and quality-driven. Your commitment to these objectives we found outstanding.
