Small, but easy to find you way around. Stress free. Had out side smoking area and a bar. In side it has two food stores and a boost juice. As well as another bar. And it has Mackay's biggest fan. Next time I fly into Mackay I'll be using this air port.
Good little airport. Customer service good and seamless. Not all cafes open but understandable as it's a regional airport. Expect to pay airport prices, parking $30 per day, taxi and uber non existent if you want to get to airport from what I've found.. outside smoking and drinking area which is had to come by. Update: Outdoor area for drinking and smoking filthy. Manager/supervisor is a horrible to her staff and should spoken to. Dodgy dusty airport but functional.
How on earth do you loose a piece of luggage on Christmas day when there is only one flight leaving at that time? When it goes on with another piece of luggage and that piece comes off? Perhaps hire some new diligent staff or put new procedures in place so that you don't ruin people's Christmas.
It's an airport. I don't really know what else to say. It was clean, there was a variety of food and drink shops. Going through security was easy with no line up.
An extremely basic airport. Don't expect many announcements about delays, they just update the boards. There usually isn't any staff about to ask questions. Their security is some of the strictest I've seen. Bags that passed screening in Sydney or Brisbane airports will get pulled out of line for checks, five yourself extra time to get through security.
A tired, overcrowded and dirty airport with cheap furniture from the 1980s. Nowhere to charge a phone. Absolutely no cover from car park to terminal so you will get drenched. Toilets were filthy. No Virgin lounge and long queues thru security. Long overdue to be demolished and rebuilt.
Worst airport. It’s small and backwards. Tried to check in early with my coffee machine in a box, ended up not early at all as we all had to queue up for this only ONE staff of the airport in a small room had to open each and every bags & boxes, checked it and tried to repack it whilst there’s a queue for it. Is there not a thing called a scanner..?
Virgin lounge still closed, therefore I booked Qantas to return to Brisbane. My meeting finished early and got to the airport 90min before scheduled boarding. I found the Qantas Club only opens 60min prior to boarding… Plenty of reno work underway.
Mackay Airport needs to reevaluate their oversized luggage handling services. It is run like a 1990’s country airport. No one takes accountability or responsibility for the delivery of oversized luggage. Which is oddly behind closed doors with a buzzer that is never answered in a timely or professional manner. Receipt of oversized items is also a mess. Someone arrives with a fishing tackle box and opens and dismantles your whole bag. Passengers pay premium for Oversized luggage services. And it’s frustrating that this has been the narrative for at least 9months
I'd like to do a shout out to Qantas flight 984 from Brisbane to Mackay for an awesome trip. I'd also like to say a big thank you to Seally for great commentary over the loudspeaker on board.You said to those who live in Mackay welcome home we'll it struck a chord with me as I'm not from this place but I work 2n1 here and you made me feel so welcome. And to the two hostesses at the back of the plane thankyou for being so accommodating. It was a great flight and I'll see you s on my way back to Brisbane.Take care
