Red Lantern on Riley

We are huge fans of Luke's restaurant in the Brisbane treasury casino and go many times each year... perhaps that means we had unreasonable expectations for Red Lantern. On our recent trip to Sydney, Red Lantern was on our 'must do ' list....we wish we'd gone somewhere else. The good...the staff and the service was impeccable. But the food whilst perfectly good was just that 'good'.... we had expected great and hoped for exceptional. The meals were very small and very expensive. The space was small and the tables were very close together. Despite no large groups and no seemingly noisy guests the atmosphere was very noisy. I'm sure that there must be many Sydney restaurants that would be better for the same price or cheaper for the same quality and quantity.

Had a private room set dinner for a friend’s birthday this week and was very impressed by the food quality and overall dinning experience. I was expecting the food to be too sweet for my liking but it wasn’t. The flavours were on the whole quite balanced, not too sweet or salty and quite delicious. The highlight for me was the blue swimmer crab cakes, the pan fried barramundi and the roast pork. We had a great time and happy to give this place a top review.

Wait staff were very professional, courteous and attentive. Ambiance is relaxed and not pretentious slightly loud at times but comfortable. Food is phenomenal with every dish being quite unique and very fresh. Many reasons to return to this place!

Waited really long for the food and the service was not helpful or enthusiastic. Would have given a 3 but I know we are all experiencing covid. Food was average and there are quite a few other options around if you want fusion Asian and they are cheaper price with better flavour and more importantly, better services

Outstanding as usual - they are just as good as before lockdown, and still go out of their way to cater for vegetarians. We were there for a Savannah wine dinner event with a preset menu, and yet they were happy to make special dishes just for the vegetarians as well. Wonderful service and very happy, helpful staff.

The food was exceptional; Full of flavour and so fresh. Coupled with outstanding service this restaurant is a must visit

Absolutely love it! Pretty good service and food for the price. I enjoyed the salt and pepper squid the most.

Dined in with a party of 10 last Saturday night for my daughters birthday party. Could not have had a better evening in every way possible We had the banquet set menu that just kept coming and coming. Food was amazing and dietary requirements were catered for on an individual basis. The staff were very friendly and super attentive, we could not have asked for more. It was a really special evening which we all enjoyed so much. Thank you to Adam and his team who took such great care and delivered a wonderful and unforgettable evening for my family.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience here last night! Wait staff were exceptional, they made our cocktails with a bit leftover so came back to top us up - an extra touch that was so simple yet inspired me to leave a review. Just classy service. Chef brought out the food himself which was exquisite. Chicken was incredible. Many thanks.

Haven’t been to red lantern in over 10 years and still the most lovely staff and food was amazing. My husband and I are both vegan and we asked if it was possible to do the banquet but make it vegan? We said if not that’s fine we could just order from the menu as their were a couple of vegan options. They not only said they were happy to do the banquet vegan but seemed excited about doing something different. The stand out was the corn cake that they usually stuff with crab but for us did mushroom. We could have eaten a plate of them! We felt so welcome. The atmosphere was great - even on a Wednesday night it was buzzing with happy customers and the staff were easy going and very attentive. Would recommend to anyone vegan or not if they like something casual but fun and delicious 10/10
