Wonderful dinner: delicious, inexpensive, very friendly & helpful staff. I can't wait to go again for dinner or yum cha! It was even better because I had to find somewhere open Waitangi Day with only 2 days notice, wasn't sure what to expect. All 6 of us loved the meal. Thank you!Food: 5/5
Widely-used black bean sauce makes really authentic dim sum However, their serving is really slow. We ordered 6 dim sums. We got told that durian mochi was sold out after 50 mins’ waiting. Egg tarts were cancelled too because it was served cold after 40 mins’ waiting. We spent more than 1 hr for 4 dishes. Felt like a waste of time.
First time to red bowl and had yum cha lunch there. Food is ok but not fantastic. Our pork dumplingsSiu mai are very dry. Bbq rice vermicelli roll doesn't look very nice. Prawn dumpling taste the best among all those dim sum we ordered.
Came back after about 6 years, still the same, but food was not quite as good. Still nice but about a 7 out of 10. Depending on what you order and your tastebuds.Food: 3/5
This is a lovely Chinese restaurant that the local Chinese go to eat out. That to me says that this is authentic and food, and also I must say that having been to China it IS authentic and delicious! the staff are nice and the price is very competitive.

Those dish came to the table without been touched, look at the rediculous proportion!!! Ordered 11 dim sum dishes which charged us over $70 and all of them are sooo small that totally ruined our day. The sauce on pork belly was very salty, the deep fried squid were only 1/3 amount from last year, 3 little chicken feet cut in half for what? Eggplant was boring, only good thing was the egg tofu. So sad. We used to be regular customers, now we understand why it is so quiet at the moment while you can't get a table at other dim sum place. Won't come back again.
Updated review: Looks like they have made some big changes to the menu and the staff. Waiting staff are very attentive and friendly. Place is cleaner and the food is better cooked. Prices are still reasonable But some meat dishes were stingy on the meat. Like the flat noodles with beef. It was like where is Wally to find the beef. 2nd time we have had to send the prawn dumplings back as they were raw. Pretty quick service when not busy, food is great but sometimes staff make mistakes and double up on your orders. Toilets need an over haul.
‘Pretty in pink’ a wholesome joint I could gladly take my mother in law. Highly recommend the pickled cabbage noodles - a stand out dish. Easy to phone ahead for a table. Experienced a generous last minute table. Great layout with a range of seating available from small to large groups. I hear the dim sum / yum cha is quite good and look forward to exploring the menu again soon. Many thanks, Sabine and Connor.
Tried the stir fry vegetables on noodles, no vegetables, just a tiny amount of shredded cabbage. Gave them a second chance, but added tofu for $3. Still no vegetables and tofu that was old and chewy, basically Styrofoam, unfit for human consumption, threw it out. Tofu literally had the taste and texture of something left out on the bench a few days, and nothing was even hot. They also had no change when I paid cash, made up some unintelligible rubbish so charged me $20 instead of $18. Inedible food, ripped off our change. Will never go back, worst chinese food we've ever had. Staff were friendly and smiled while they ripped us off though, so I guess thats something. Vegetarian options: Stir fry vegetables had a tiny bit of shredded cabbage and nothing else, literally no vegetables, just noodles that tasted old and reheated. Not even hot.
