Story

Welcome to the QLDC's Facebook page. This is where we'll keep you up to date with what's happening in the world of the Council and the district. You can also give us feedback on local issues and let us know if you spot anything that needs attention.

Please bear in mind that a post on this forum is not an official submission to Council (although all comments are passed on to the relevant department). If you're interested in finding out how to present an issue of concern more formally, fill in the 'Have Your Say' form on the QLDC website or come and speak at the public forum that takes place at every full Council meeting.

You can find out more by talking to our Customer Service team on (03) 441 0499. They're also the people to talk to if you've identified a problem that we need to fix like a water leak.

I just want to say a thing about the camping in Queenstown. When we were there, we were traveling self contained but we found it very difficult to know where it is possible to spend the night or not. The online map is helpful but some people told us they were fined $200 dollars even if it was "legal". And also this 2 nights thing. Are we allowed to spend 2 following nights or 2 nights at all during a specific period or what do you mean ? Moreover we met some very unpleasant people one morning who told (scream) us we weren't allowed to stay at the place we were.. But we were at a place who is green on the council's map so we didn't understand.. sometimes we felt not welcome in Queenstown. Maybe it would be better to introduce clear rules even if it's to prohibited freedom camping at all. I prefer to pay several nights in a hotel than one night for 200$.
