Not the nicest place, it is extremely run down and needs a renovation. The ‘champagne’ served in the lounge was worth $10, it was sparkling wine, it is not up to the business class standards. My partner got a red wine and it was severed in a dirty glass with lip stains. He went back to get a fresh glass and the staff pulled out another dirty glass. Barely a lounge at all.
This lounge is becoming a complete joke. Service standards and quality of food offerings were meagre in the past but I'd say that now Qantas are basically breaching consumer laws by only opening this lounge an hour before each Qantas flight departure. So much for the hundreds of dollars Qantas Club members spend on their membership! Or so much for business class passengers who might actually need to get some work done before their flight! Check-in for my Qantas flight was open, yet the lounge was closed and people were sitting outside on the floor like beggars waiting for it to open. A small sign informed passengers that the lounge only opens an hour before each Qantas operated flight, so in essence you might get a rushed 40 minutes before your flight to relax and enjoy anything the lounge might have to offer. The staff member Gavin at the entrance counter was doing his usual poor job of pretending to give two hoots about passengers. At least most of the staff inside were pleasant enough but I think Qantas' service offering at OOL is in desperate need of a general refresh. I never thought I'd see Virgin Australia offering a more comprehensive on-ground experience but that's what seems to be happening here.
Spacious and clean. Thought there could have been more variety of food. My flight was delayed so was more than happy to extend my stay
Went to check in was greeted by the desk attendant with a look of disgust. She proceeds to tell me I need to put a jumper on as singlets are not apart of the dress code. I comply with her request and after entering I see three females with singlets on. Terrible service made to feel like I didn't belong here.
Another evidence of subpar lounges and too much crowd. Also alcohol service starts at 12pm which is conveniently after all the QF and JQ flights. Staff was friendly though
Update – We came to the Qantas Lounge again in August 2019. At about 9 am. Best experience yet. Has changed management?? Staff seem much more friendly, food was better, facilities cleaner. Very satisfied. Review below was 2018, I think. Staff were pretty friendly, some more so than others. Tables dirty and chairs sticky... Food was basic. The barista/ counter lady was smiling and friendly to all. Coffee was very good. Overall Not bad, but could be better.
Regular flyer through this lounge and they've recently added new furniture throughout so there are a lot more seating options - especially for single travellers. Love the new colours and styles of seats. Makes the space much more welcome than what it was.
How strange. We were waiting for our flight and told the lounge was closing at 3:30pm and would re-open at 5:00pm. We then had to vacate the lounge...Strange never experienced this before. Disappointing!
We arrived at Cooly two hours early for a 1pm flight to Melbourne, before we checked in we get text telling us our flight we be delayed 30 minutes. Off to the Qantas Club only to be told they were closing due to staff shortage and you can not come in. I think this is another A Joyce Contractor issue. A Joyce tells everyone how great Qantas is! He should say was great until he sacked workers and down graded Qantas. Cooly Qantas Club was never great but now it is not for the members anymore even if we are Platinum Members.
Worst, smallest, least equipped Qantas Club lounge in Australia. It's the size of a small living room with almost no facilities. The "family zone" is a total joke. Don't bother visiting it or using the airport itself - just fly to Brissy and drive down to Gold Coast. This is a ridiculous excuse for a lounge.
