I purchased a Banoffie cake, it was not bad, but I've had banoffie before and this one let me down a bit. Felt like it didn't had enough caramel/banana mix. The crust was good, but to much whipped cream to my taste. Good thing though it's that they give you the glass refractory with the cake! Overall, it's alright.
After flying over 1600 km's to try some food, not one single thing was available from the menu I wanted to try. Pictured was the only remaining food at the second store i tried our luck at, at 2pm in the afternoon I would have thought the most common items pictured would be available. It's lost sales and surely the wastage would be less than lost sales. Staff didn't care either and reluctantly tried something I didn't enjoy.
TL:DR - Pie Piper is absolutely amazing, even when things don't always go to plan. Story time, fam. I have been a long-time fanatic of ALL of the Pie Piper's offerings: their chicken and waffles and American-style biscuits speak to my Southern Soul food spirit. I was gifted a rainbow birthday cake this year, and their pies completed my Thanksgiving feast last year If I love you, I'm probably gonna gift you a pie or doughnut. Consistently amazing food and service, so I sought to recreate last year's memories and make the best out of lockdown during Thanksgiving. Ordered their pies and other specials, so was expecting 2 pies and a surprise secret mini pie for partner. Driving from West Auckland to Eastridge, awaiting me was a beautifully wrapped trio of boxes, tied with signature red ribbon. Upon return, I was reminded I had ordered extra pastries because, of course! and so...1 pie, 1 mini pie, 1 box of pastries. Missing a pie. My own dumb fault for not checking/ and forgetting I ordered other stuff. Panic ensues because my partner is unable to drive out again from home. I would be stuck at home all day the following day solo-ing the entire Thanksgiving feast...everyone also working from home. I rung, and A ngel I think? helped me sort everything, from talking with her managers after hours, too!, and then confirming with me that they would correct the error and get my pie out to me the very next day. They saved my Thanksgiving. For their superlative products and customer service, they have a life-long promoter in me and my family.
Usually generous portions, partner really likes the banoffee pie. Has had it multiple times. Cheesecakes are super nice too!
Walked pass the shop after visiting another store up the street and was drawn into the shop by how busy it was. Turns out they were doing a Halloween promo whereby kids can get a face paint and decorate their own donut for $10. Staff were all really friendly and helpful and my child had an awesome experience and they were also very generous with the toppings for the donut. Had a bite of the donut when home and it was very good. The Pie Piper also offers a variety of pies obviously based on the name and they looked very nice. We were just abit too full to try more as have already dessert for the day.... The place also offer Atomic coffee which means the quality of coffee should be good. Will come back 1 day to try their other food options and a coffee.
Fun and enticing looking baked goods! I tried the rainbow layered cake for some fun. It sure looked the part, but I must be honest in letting you know that it was not a great treat to eat. The sponge itself was dry. I thought this may be down to using oil rather than butter in your bake, at least that is the impression it gave. I couldn't finish the cake which is a real shame - something was just off. I am not sure if this was a one-off thing, or if I just chose the wrong sweet treat. However I give you guys a 4/5 because I loved the look of all your goods and run a bakery myself. I hope this critique is taken on board, thanks.
Long time customer and first time review. Have enjoyed the great selection and the nice and quiet spot as my Sunday go-to when I was living in the city. I've also recommended it to so many people but this time it was a total disappointment. First of all, cappuccino tasted like water and the texture of milk froth was off - so thin and you can almost not tasting it. A $6.50 large coffee is in a 380ml cup, which was a shock as we are both huge coffee fans and coffee shop regulars. Secondly, the chocolate peanut butter pie was very disappointing. Too gluey - sticking on your molars and throat and wouldn't come off until you chug some water to wash it down. How should I describe the taste? Like a 5 healthy star rating bliss ball sold in the dairy shop. The biggest disappointment is the pecan pie, which I have always enjoyed. It was dry this time, cracked on top, the base almost non existent. The pastry tasted stale, especially the crust. Lastly, the table was covered in cake sprinkles and a bit of cream when we came in. No need to say more words for this as it's quite obvious how we felt about this. I do hope this is just one off experience. I do hope I haven't lost my one go-to spot on K rd...
Went here for a late lunch with my partner today and I must say I was very impressed. Staff were friendly and the portion size were amazingly good value. If you're going here the Bbq mac and cheese is a must! Was too full up to try the cake but will definitely be back before I leave Auckland.
Yummy cake and very nice presentation too. How ever some tart flavors are bit too sharp and killing the taste. I have mentioned this to the lady at the counter but they just ignored it saying nothing wrong with it. It was much nicer if you change the serving when a customer is unhappy. Just something to think about
the modern day K Toad vibe mixed with American pies and cuisine. The pies look incredible and the donuts and baking looks divine. We ordered a mixture of pastries and coffees as it was too early for sweet decadence. The coffee making was not speedy. The service was friendly. There were a couple of Uber eats orders going out. I can report the food was fine, fresh and delicious. The reason I made it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the restaurant seating was not ideal, it was noisy as they are baking there. The music also didn’t suit the theme of the place.
