Breakfast available Friday through to Sunday from 8am-11am

PEPE’S on the beach promises a slice of the Mediterranean with a hint of Bondi on the shores of North Wollongong Beach. The space that formerly housed the iconic Beach Bar, a popular bar in the 80s and 90s has been completely transformed to take full advantage of their beachside location. The striking nautical decor that pays homage to the Greek Islands isn’t the only change that has taken place, PEPE’S is now offering all day drinks and dining with al fresco options on their large scale deck and private cabanas, providing Wollongong with a unique product.

PEPE’S on the beach offers a unique experience to their patrons. With large scale open windows and bi-fold doors making up the face of the venue it is easy to feel the sea breeze and take in the uninterrupted ocean views. The large scaled deck, a brand new addition to the previous venue is a key feature in the design and concept of the bar, it defines the cultural fabric we are trying to emulate – both Mediterranean and Australian lifestyles are all about relaxed, outdoor living and we bring this to you complete with bean bags, hanging chairs and beach views whilst being nestled among the palm trees.

Featuring an array of tantalising, innovative dishes, the food menu reflects the Mediterranean influence and sophistication that PEPE’s on the beach has promised to bring to Wollongong. From oyster shots, fish tacos and Southern fried chicken sliders to charcuterie, sashimi and drunken chicken wings, the emphasis is on food that is perfect to share, designed to complement the laid back vibe that PEPE’S on the beach is quickly becoming famous for.

I would put a 0 if I could! The food was mediocre, however the standard of cleanliness was palpably disturbing to my family and I as we were dining. Upon seating, the tables were very sticky, as well as the menus. We had to put effort into pulling apart the menus because they were stuck together with a yellow substance with even hairs stuck to a few menus. We asked a waitress to clean the table and the menus yet after she was done they were still sticky? Ultimately, we had to use hand sanitizers and wipes to properly clean the tables, and menus in order to sit and look properly. This is not withstanding the fact that there was stains on the highly worn out couches. The jugs and cups which were served were stained implying that they weren’t cleaned properly. Ultimately, if the cutlery and dishes were not cleaned properly, this leads me to wonder what sanitary implications are being enforced in the kitchen. As much as I am a dog person, I am firmly against the notion of allowing dogs into places where food is served. Ever second customer brought in a dog! This was a turn off from the food for me, why are we eating with dogs?? Also, the bathrooms are really confusing, what’s a wench? A 0 star would be above a compliment to you! I was expecting a higher standard of cleanliness especially from restaurant I’ve always seen as busy with people. The araf is unimaginable
I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place. Cocktails were good, calamari and wings were amazing. I was super impressed and I’d definitely be back!
Drinks were terrible. Literally couldn’t drink them. We were there on a Friday night and were told to move from inside to outside at 11pm. Mind you it was raining and seats were wet. Think they just wanted to close. So we left. Friday night and dead. Sad really, considering location.
Excellent breakfast, right on the beach with great drinks and surfy vibes! Really great time and would go again. Good service, flexible hours
Enjoyed my experience at the venue last week. Would be 5 stars but the menus had a thin layer of grime coating their surface. Was served by a nice young prince charming by the name of Matt, who had a bright smile and a twinkle in his eye, it's a breath of fresh air to have service from someone so friendly. looking forward to returning once the menus are cleaned.
Ridiculous service, waiting 30 minutes in a line just to wait another hour for food to arrive, asked about where our food was 3 times because everyone was getting their food that ordered after us, mind you our entree was oysters that would’ve taken 2 seconds to put on a plate they kept assuring us it would come soon, another hour and a half later we ask again to find out they left our order at the register and didn’t even send it to kitchen. Slowest service. Also as we went to leave another family was complaining about where their food was and the employee said it wasn’t in their system.
Great location and decent food but terrible management. My friend booked a table but once we arrived we were told we could use the 'Cabana' table in the bottom section until the people who booked that specific table were to arrive. Generous but staff could have given us a table that we could use the whole duration that was actually free and avail to use. The security came over and announced abruptly to move even though we had a table full of food and drinks we just ordered and paid for. We asked if there a table we can move to because by now there are no available tables as they are now taken. He looked at us vacantly and said that's our problem and kept repeating to move wanting really to stir up the ladies that had been drinking ... to I believe get them angry so to eventually kick us out. the manager should have assisted us in this matter but they just wanted us out for the only thing I could think of is some of the ladies started to get really upset and got their back up. They then kicked us out .. totally unreasonable and ridiculous. Also may I add earlier on we had tried to order cocktails and the manager advised all patrons that we couldn't for one hr cause staff couldn't handle the amount of orders. I mean that's why you go there , that's the venues selling point ...anyway their loss of $$
Table was filthy. I ordered juice on the menu but the lady said they didn't have juice and recommended wine. I ordered the 1st wine which was 6.50 dollars. Later on I realised she charged me 16 dollars. So I asked her why? She said the one I ordered was out of stock so she decided to give me a different one. Excuse me??? Why don't you tell me first ? If I didn't check the bill, I will never find it out !!
WOW - I'm shocked. The business really wasn't prepared to handle the flow of people on a Sunday morning. The service of staff was fine but they were completely overwhelmed by the number of orders and coffees of their guests. I'd really urge management to reconsider their resourcing because waiting for over 30 minutes for a coffee then learning that it wasn't recorded technical issues? Isn't acceptable in this industry.
Very poor service from one particular staff member who I’d give 1 star if review was specific to individuals. She’d ignore us when we approached the bar, not even a “I’ll be with you in a second” acknowledgment, despite the venue being almost empty on a Monday morning. She seemed frustrated when we requested a spread for the toast and still annoyed by our presence she told us “I’ll bring it to you” in an exasperated manner… and proceeded to not bring anything over. Glancing at the empty bar, seems she’s too preoccupied talking to another staff member. Venue is otherwise fine, food was nice.
