Heating and cooling accounts for over 40% of household energy use, making it the largest energy consumer in the family home, but a well designed, energy efficient home, requires very little energy to make it comfortable and not have to rely on mechanical heating and cooling.
Panelock Building Solutions new 100mm Panelock Insulated Panel building system with Mgo Board, or magnesium oxide board each side of a solid core of expanded polystyrene foam addresses this problem and keeps your family safe and comfortable.
Mgo board, one of the greenest building products on the planet, is used as both an internal and external cladding, and is as yet not well known on the Australian building scene, but with such an incredible list of advantages over many other widely used building products that will certainly soon change.
Mgo board is resistant to water, resistant to mould, resistant to insects , and is almost impenetrable by fire.

Air infiltration or air leakage in a home is responsible for 40 percent of heat or cooling loss in the average home, but SIP homes have routinely tested up to five times more airtight than wood framed homes with fibreglass insulation.
Air infiltration poses more problems than just higher energy bills , as air that passes through fibreglass insulation often carries moisture which can cause hidden mould growth in wall cavities, and poor indoor air quality that can lead to health problems for occupants.
The lighter weight of Structural Insulated Panels as a building material, contradicts their incredible strength as they share similar structural properties as an I-beam. The rigid insulation core acts as a web while the adhered sheathing or cladding fulfils the function of the flanges.
