I just want to put this review here so that the patients here know that the Privacy Act is Queensland law. If you are over 18 and you do not have a carer, the hospital cannot legally tell your family or your friends what your diagnosis is or what your medications are. They can’t even tell them that you’ve been admitted here. You can contact legal aid Queensland for advice. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner to lodge a complaint at any time. There is also the Office of the Health Ombudsman for any other complaints you’d like to make about how you have been treated.
Felt more like a prison than a hospital. It made me worse than before I was admitted. Weekends are especially bad with little support or care.
I found the experience very traumatic. They just locked me up and didn't tell me when I would be released. I was manic and needed help but I'd just had a year of cancer treatment and to be put in here was just plain cruel. Something needs to be done there are people in there suffering. More funding is needed for this type of psychiatric unit. The way they are being run atm is quite disturbing..
Great survival horror simulator. Definitely more memorable than the McKamey Manor, and it's even open to a wider audience with far less safety checks than most haunted houses all year round!
The unit is now used for drug addicts. They still get centrelink so they can still use drugs in the unit. The toilets reek of pot as the patients run the shower and just get high in the toilet. Security are always there because its so violent. Even the dementia patients are on methadone.
