The best Kumara fries I have ever eaten! Honestly, this food experience was completely amazing. Three of us went here on a Wednesday night, and there weren't many people in the restaurant. Service was great and after asking about the Cajun Platter a $90 platter of many of the things on the menu and whether it would feed three for dinner, we were advised that it definitely would. We ordered a balsamic bread too. It was so much food and we left with a huge doggie bag! Honestly, this platter could easily feed four for dinner. Everything on the platter was delicious. The Kumara fries were the highlight along with the Gumbo Yaya, and the ribs and wings were so juicy. I didn't really enjoy the hush puppies but overall, it was a delicious experience and we'll be back for the dessert platter! If you are a beer fan, the Ballast Point Habanero was delicious and quite potent!
The food is really nice as well as the staff but it seems their ipad ordering system crests caos. We saw our food go to another table before coming to ours, this happened for a few tables. The cocktale menu is huge but we waited 20 minutes to get them. If their ipad ordering system actually worked this place would get 4 stars
Great food. The three of us ordered some chicken wings and the mixed grill to share and were unable to fit dessert. Cool Dixie style trad jazz music, super friendly staff + a good atmosphere.
Booked a table for Valentine's day and it was fabulous. The whole place was decorated with balloons and hearts and roses. Great food. Really excellent service. Booking drinks via iPad is sick a great idea and arrived promptly. Will definitely go again.
A+ for atmosphere and novelty, A+ for the wicked drinks and great service. However, we were let down by our food choices we should have read the reviews for the ribs before going and ordered those!. The chicken and waffles came with store-bought waffles rather than fresh ones and the key-lime pie wasn't lime flavored. However, we would definitely go back for the drinks and entrées which were fabulous.
Went there with a large group 16 on one of their busiest Friday nights, so wasn't unexpected that food was slow coming out. Most of the food was great but I was disappointed with their ribs. Live music and great atmosphere though. Then there's the drinks....wow! HUGE selection of drinks which you order through an iPad. Very easy to get carried away... Will definitely be going back to this place in the near future.
The atmosphere was great, the live band even more so. I even loved ordering from an ipad which i knew would be dangerous. My main reason for complaining is the food which is obviously just personal taste, it was all cooked fine, just most dishes are very sugary/sweet. And for the $70 i paid for the night its just not my taste and there are many places id rather go for food!
Good southern food. Went on a Sat night and the live band was great, got a few people up dancing which made for a really good atmosphere. Cocktails were nice and well priced too ~$14
Had first booking of the night with a table of 17. For the worlds most extensive cocktail list we couldn't order raspberry coke or ice tea. Most of the food was pretty good and the platter was impressive however let down by the vegetarian dish which was half a slab of broccoli on potatoe and no mushrooms. The food was good for the price. When it came for paying the bill their point of pay system was not working, this may have been a once in a blue moon event however it was a big bill for 17 people and one person to pay. They wanted to charge us manually using loose numbers and a calculator without any sort of invoice. It was my friends wedding day and they spent a good 20min discussing with her an invoice couldn't be done. She had to create her own and then when it came to payment, the efpos system was down and expected an online bank transfer after all the grief they put the bride through. They didn't have any other means of payment. They eventually settled for an invoice to be sent by email but it left out bride in tears. The owner stated that he's happy to send an invoice however it means he can't pay for his staff for the night because of a delayed payment.
The complete evening out. The food was great, the cocktails a choice of 5,000 exciting, the music cool smooth jazz, the service was friendly and efficient. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
