A lot of good reviews so we tried it on a Tuesday night. We were the only customers so it wasn't a bust time. We ordered crumbed barramundi which was ok but slightly overcooked, the crumb was quite dark and crisp. The chips were ok but similar to the fish, quite dark and slightly overdone. I'd give our meal a 3.5 rating. We may have just gone on a bad night. Parking: Only a couple of street parking spots available and if you miss them, you have to go around the big block. Wheelchair accessibility: You have to park on the street and negotiate from there.
Worst fish and chips I have had and at a premium price. $67 for a family pack of 4 tasteless cod don't think it was even cod, soggy chips, 2 potato scallops, calamari and 4 prawn cutlets. Can get 3 quality sit down meals at any pub or club around for that with a beer! Would never go back!!!
Amazing customer service and the 3 times I've gotten good here it has been next level if your in the area and in need of fish and chips especially whiting... stop in you won't be disappointed!!!!
I don't usually review so that's how you know it's good in quality. It has great serving sizes, great quality food, great customer support, and there are honestly no downsides to this place, except for the occasional delay when you order sometimes, which is usually expected. No fish and chips place has gotten close to the quality of food here in my opinion, and it is a must-have, if you want to go to a fish and chips place.
Poorly wrapped, small servings of cod, fat soggy chips, awful wrinkly scallops and calamari. The only thing the totally overpriced family pack had going for it was the cod was reasonably fresh. I'll never eat there again
We ordered our fish and chips at 4.30pm knowing how busy they would be on Easter Friday. When they told us it would be ready at 6.30pm we fully understood the delay. Unfortunately, when we arrived at 6.30pm to pick up our order there was a massive line of people waiting around. It took us 15 mins just to get inside. They had 5 staff working with a very young, obviously frazzled, gentleman taking orders. I felt sorry for him as the two orders in front of us were lost and those customers were obviously very upset knowing they wouldn't have been the first to be that way on the night. When we finally got to the front counter, they did manage to find our order after 4-5 mins of looking but then told us our food was still about 1 hr- 1.5 hrs away. Now I would have had no issue with this if the owners weren't still taking phone orders while we were there. Yes, they continued to take orders even though there were at least 20-30 orders backlogged with angry pre-paid customers ahead of those. Also, letting a young kid face all of the angry customers while you hide around the corner is simply poor management. We understand it is Easter and that you will be busy. However, this was beyond a joke!
Great fish and chips! Crumbled barramundi that is crispy outside and soft inside. Nice calamari, fried pineapple and most of all, huge servings of chips at excellent prices. All food melt in mouth. Will come to this place again. Top quality stuff.
Incredibly fast and friendly service that keeps me coming back time and time again. The food itself is spectacular as I have always received it when it's hot. The chips are to die for and the fish is out of this world. This exquisite food is one of the very few delights that ashgrove has to offer
Cannot fault the food. Fish was cooked fresh, was tasty and reasonably priced. The only negative is the wait. It took 45 minutes to an hour for my meal to be ready, since there was a large back log on a Friday night. It is a small shop with one man working the fryers and another person or two preparing and taking orders.
Excellent fish and chips! The fish was delicious, the calamari was tender, and we had a very generous serving of chips. Great value, highly recommended.
