As a high school student here at the school, there could be so many improvements that need to be made. Things aren't up to date, and standards aren't met. There have been instances where students have been bullied, some for gender choices, some for ethnicities, some for skin colour, and some for sexuality choices. As someone who shows interest in both genders, there have been unnecessary comments and actions towards me. These incidences have been mentioned to teachers, who have later done nothing towards the situation. There have also been sexist comments from teachers including a PE teacher saying that the boys group can't verse the girls group because we are faster and stronger. When I called the comment sexist, the teacher immediately said that it wasn't because it was true. This school is no good for students of colour as it has come not only to my attention but to many others that white people are saying the N word. This is unacceptable and there should be action taken.
My both kids attend Northpine since daycare and they absolutely love the school and the teachers. Her teachers are a great encouragement and the academic program is great. We are so grateful to have our kids at Northpine”
My son is in the primary school and has loved every minute of it so far - the teachers have been amazing and really help him thrive. We haven’t had any issues with bullying but have no doubt if we did the teachers would be eager to resolve it very quickly. So many opportunities with extracurricular activities as well. It’s been a great experience all round!
If you have children of colour I would not suggest sending them to this school. Sarah Redman a very white lady, supposedly the pastor said the N word during senior school chapel and when various students of many different backgrounds and race asked for an apology the school brushed it under the rug and we were never allowed to talk about it again. I a hindu was called into the office and accused of cheating on my religion and ethics Hinduism exam. I was told that "anonymous" reports had come in that I was cheating. I know for a fact that I was the only child of colour in that class. So a bunch of mediocre white kids started reporting me for cheating on an exam about Hinduism.... maybe I got a good grade because I am a Hindu? Nadine Fleming the religion and ethics teacher told our class that homosexuals would burn in hell. That was an opinion that was just brought up, it had nothing to do with what the class was discussing at the time. One of the girls who was in the class for this discussion burst out crying because she has two mums. I give the school two starts because if you have a child whose not apart of the minority there's a chance they might thrive here.
I personally loved the high school and the teachers, only joined in the later years though. Great experience but my cohort had a lot to do with that so I can’t say the same for other year levels. On the other hand my sister isn’t finding her experience too great. Her primary teacher for year 4 is an absolute nightmare for any child to encounter. She has only been in her class for just over a month and she’s already asked to leave many times which we will be doing. Many experiences have lead to us to decide that this older teacher is a bully. Due to a request from the school I have had to removed her name…. IYKYK
Wish we hadn't continued into high school......if you are sporty they love you. If you are bright but hard work then forget it, if you have a personality then forget it, they will try to bully it out of you. Too much opinion based teaching, sadly disappointing, I really wished I had moved my child before high school. A handful of real dedicated and encouraging teachers, the rest just go through the motions...just my opinion "-
Bad place, the school doesn't care about the students. the bullying is bad and the teachers and principal don't do anything about it. Instead they shamed me and other students for our differences. Many past students have harmed themselves because of what the school put them through. Had to leave because of it. xoxo
I sent my son to Northpine for 10 years and now I am sending my grandson there. The entire staff are focused on every child, parent and grandparent that walks through their door. They know your name and they genuinely care for you and your child. My husband was a state school teacher for 40 years and he loves Northpine. Our grandchild has had health issues and would never have survived a state school. The teachers put 100% into every child every day. Yes its a lot of money but is nothing when you see the characters of the children who are nurtured there. I do not know any other school that has koalas, kangaroos and peacocks walking around the playground with the kids. It is so peaceful there. The closest you will get to a country school. It is a very special place.
I am planning to send my son there next year. I checked the school's Naplan and Op results. The results look good. It reflects the school is academic focused. The only pity they teach Japanese. I think learning Chinese is better. Talking to the school's staff on the phone, they are very pleasant.
Great school, small with friendly teachers and staff. Has really helped with my childs confidence. Is quite religous, which we aren't, but love the values and life morals instilled to the kids.
