Edit: well a year has gone by.  Tailshaft did not make it. Bought a fully reconditioned one in Bayswater for less than this mob charged me.  Diff is leaking, wheel bearings are leaking. Noises are getting more obvious.  Unless you like throwing away money or being disappointed, avoid this terrible business.  A friend just went with GJ and is very happy.  Dropped my diff off and was rebuilt next day, so far no issues with workmanship BUT GET A WRITTEN QUOTE!  I got 4.11 gears and their version of truetrak, qouted $2500 over the phone which was on par with others. Told him I could get a reconditioned tailshaft for $450 or new bursons same price but happy for him to fix mine if cost is comparable.  Spoke the next day and was told diff was done waiting for tailshaft that arvo, great.  Arrive expecting to pay around $2800, maybe $2900 given they reused my tailshaft.  To my shock the tailshaft had the rear coupling replaced. Claimed it was balanced but no weights or markings on it. Center bearing and mount untouched. $550, $100 more than brand new from bursons.  Diff, apparently he always qoutes cash price, never mentioned, so was now $2600 +Gst but he also decided to do my wheel bearings at a cost of $528. Never asked me.  So my estimated $2900 tops was actually $3,938.00, over $1k more than expected.  Really unhappy as I didn't have an extra 1k to spend on car. Definitely put him well over other quotes.  Pics of inv and other verbal quotes provided prices show with and without truetrak.  I just hope the workmanship and product quality is decent!

Great work guys on my black VE SS wagon 1st it was the diff which you changed to 3'9 gears so much better now and 2nd the gear box

Tim was absolutely fantastic. Often when it comes to mechanical issues and being a female it can be hard finding good service, but Tim was excellent. Had a diff rebuilt a few years ago and haven’t had a problem with it since. Got some great maintenance advice. Recently had an axle that needed some work, really fast service, pleasant to deal with and great price. I would definitely go back and recommend to anyone.

Absolutely rip off! Was quoted $800 to repair a rear diff, then was told on pick up to be over $2k. Owner is known to quote things in 4 figures. Stay away from these thief's.

My Mum’s 2004 ba xr6 turbo had a radiator problem and needed to be replaced ASAP because driving for about 5 mins would overheat the car. Called up Northern Diffs, explained the situation to them at 8am and they told me to bring it in straight away. Replaced it by the end of the day! Seems these guys triage cars - emergency vs standard maintenance.  Her usual mechanic said there was no time to check it out because he was fully booked for 3 weeks and my mum and myself have been goin there for about 6 years. What a cuck! Anyway we go to Northern Diffs for emergencies now.

After being quoted $40 each to have some bearings pressed onto a pair of axles. After having to call up and chase them up myself the quote had jumped up to $130, after getting it back down to $100 when we went to pick them up he didn't even have the decency to take the food out of his face before being a snide and arrogant prick saying he has done them at half his price 130÷2=100??  So in short these are unpleasant to deal with and can't do basic mathematics. Not the sort of joint you would want working on your car.

Rang and rang mon tue no answer..bought bearings and recoed my own diff by following sunday with a little help from my friends.....kinda glad you never picked up

Went here to get my diff change, few weeks later started making a noise, went there and the other guy said it needed a rebuilt, once he found out is was under warranty and they re looked at it, turned out to be a wheel bearing
