I’d never been to the Norman sober before, but I hadn’t been there in a long time. I heard it burnt in between visits.nnThey still specialise in steaks, but I did the thing you’re not suppose to do at a steak restaurant: I ordered the fish - barramundi actually - and it was delicious.nnThe birthday bloke is almost full carnivore and very much enjoyed his beef. Everyone in our party of 12 practically licked our plates clean.nnFood service was good, but table service was a bit slow, or they’d forget - mostly young guys.nnFive different faces about our table told me the staff weren’t given a section, and you need sections in a place like this because the indoor/ outdoor architecture was made up of sections somehow separate from each other.nnDecor was good: basic pub with plants - plants make everything nice and they were everywhere. They were able to keep some of the original brickwork. Seats weren’t plush but they were comfortable, plenty of space to accommodate our group.nThe table had a bar heater over the top that provided an even distribution of warmth, which was good because it was pretty cold, and it wasn’t set annoyingly high.nnGood times for a 50th birthday They were accommodating to our needs, even on game night, moving our table from the bare other side to the back area. And they brought out the cake and things accordingly - though a little disappointed they closed the coffee machine so early, especially as most of us are coffee-loving Dutch. It would have gone down perfectly with the Black Forest cake.
It has been many years since we came for a legendary Steak at the Norman Hotel.nOur experience was just as good, if not better than our last.nCustomer service was warm and friendly, during our evening visit, the restaurant ambience had perfect mood lighting for the Beer garden and Steaks were to die for.nAll steaks come with an option of two different sides and included a complimentary bread roll.nThe Photo below was from their Extreme Beef range - 350g Rump with a Marble Score 5 or 6 from memory.nnIf you are in Brisbane I would highly recommend visiting the Norman Hotel
What an amazing place. Plenty of options to sit & enjoy your meal. The meat selection was fantastic. Cooked to perfection & served within a good time from ordering. We went on a sunday lunch 11.30 & there was plenty of space.
Great night out with delicious steaks. There was a churchie old boys dinner with 300+ people at the same time along with the restaurant being nearly full so there was a 50 minute wait. The wagyu rump steak was exquisite, it was beautifully salted and cooked. Unfortunately the broncos lost.
It was ok, but historically it has a reputation as THE place to go for steaks, but with QR ordering, the old school experience of choosing your steak is no longer, and the cooks should be steak experts and yet we had 3 out of 5 steaks cooked incorrectly. Meat tasted good but when it's closer to blue than medium-rare, it's disappointing.nAnd the rib fillet was all of 4mm thick. Very thin .nThe fillet Mignon was thick and pretty good. The tbone was sizable but cooked incorrectlynSides were amazing.nStaff were friendly.nBut the steaks were very very average.
