Came to Noosa for Christmas holidays and as usual parking in Noosa was a nightmare, but to make matters worse Noosa council decided to open Lion Park directly next to the public carpark, but Not for Free to accommodate the lack of parking that they council providing are not providing, instead they were charging $20 just a money grabbing over the Christmas period. Shameful behaviour by the council!
Council puts on a triathlon event, attracts peole from all over the state, causing heavy traffic congrestion & forcing people to park on verges etc. Than council dish out $100 parking fines on a Sunday where noone is inconvienced. Well done Noosa Council, put on a event raising 100s of thousands $ then double your takings by fining the people you attracted to the event.
What a joke of a council allowing events to happen in an already congested area Noosa Heads. Weekend was ruined due to poorly planning of the Noosa Thriatlon event. No communication signs of the town to be congested, and impossible to find parking with the family when Treveling in and our of Noosa. Clear communication and signalling should be improved as a way to engage with all stakeholders and visitors to Noosa.
Parking at Peregian is being used as a revenue raiser for NSC on every 1st & 3rd Sunday each month when the Peregian markets are taking place. There is no doubt that NSC and/or its employees are specifically trying to target out-of-towners and showing no mercy or leniency for such trivial issues as nose-in compulsory parking. In case NSC didn't know, this is not how the rest of Australia parks as tail-in parking is by far the safest method if a vehicle has reversing camera and side mirrors. In my case, I stopped with some friends from Brisbane to get a coffee at a local Peregian café and was aware that the parking spot was limited to 1/2 hour only. I was not aware that nose-in was even written below the time on the sign in small letters or even after being fined $94 for this innocuous offence, that this was an offence. I tried to appeal to NSC with my story only to be told, you broke the law and that is that. I also visited Peregian markets again 2 weeks later to find the NSC parking officer doing exactly the same thing and I counted 6 cars fined in 15 minutes. Apparently the NSC believes this rule is there as Peregian is a food precinct and they don't want exhaust fumes in cafes. I could maybe believe this if an effort was made to warn out-of-towners about this special type of parking and to sign post better if this was such a huge issue. Keep in mind, there are no fumes coming from a parked car!! Also, attached is a photo of a car nowhere near a shop or café, but ticketed just the same as all parks are mandated as nose-in, not just the ones that are near food outlets. I also tried to approach the NSC parking officer as he was writing another of his tickets and suggested politely that maybe a warning for people that don't know was a better option. I was told with obvious disdain that "I don't chase people that have broken the law". Good for him, maybe a short note on a windscreen advising why this was a specific policy for Peregian would have been a better method for getting tourists to return to the Peregian markets and Noosa, but that's only my opinion of course. Personally I have no time for people who create and hide behind policy instead of trying to fix a problem, i.e. if one exists. I'm not sure if exhaust fumes on café patrons was a major issue in Peregian previously, but simply fining the unsuspecting out-of-towner will not fix this issue. NSC, maybe consider using my hard-earned $94 that you took, along with all of the other poor suckers money for the same idiotic offence without warning or compassion and use it to educate the public about this issue if it is a problem. Better still, how about not targeting events that specifically attract vulnerable and unaware tourists for your ridiculous revenue-raising fines. I feel just as sorry for the residents of Peregian and the Market people that likely have no knowledge of this rort or the fact it happens every time the Markets take place. I'm sure they would be devastated to know how NSC is driving away their business. NSC, if there was a zero rating instead of one star, you would get it for your lack of respect for tourists and tourism.
Absolutely ridiculous parking infringement fine amounts, $103! There is not enough parking for surfers! It is only going to get busier and busier, so here's a solution for you council pea brain galahs: Council might as well remove cars altogether, except for residents and disabled. Boom gates at all car lane entrances. Only park and ride, pedestrians, bikes, scooters and motorbikes allowed for a cleaner and greener Noosa National Park. More park and ride buses must be in supply for surfers and their surfboards! This is a surfing spot and always has been!
Drove into an angle parking at Noosa river to quickly drop something off. Within less than 5 mins ticket blokes were there taking photos etc. $103 fine.. for not reversing in.. come on get off it! Go assist the flood victims! Be productive for the community.
Their website will not load so I'm unable to pay my $107 parking fine for when the triathlon was on
Funny, people mention over zealous parking inspectors. Noosa Council is very generous though at Noosa National Park Carpark. No tickets and free camping for all. Tents up, roof top campers, dozens of vans, carpark is full all night in summer.
Two decades of ceaseless Council corruptions, greed & arrogance which focuses only on eastern coastal tourist interests while ignoring its non-urban and hinterland larger area problems with false environmental claims need more than mere streetscapes. State needs another corrective amalgamation with SC Council to reopen to business growth, needed infrastructures, economic progress and missing moral governance. Worst place I've ever lived in the world and never saw so many angry struggling poor residents & failed businesses. Ignore the aged loyalist comments who never had an economic stake and resist any change wanting the area to retain its 1960's charms. Merely a short-term small over-priced tourist spot in the "Noosas" with natural beauty, but can't ignore the substantial recurring absences of quality, maintenance, services and resident prosperity. Beware the hidden levies and Council costs and resulting higher property rates or think a Councillor will do anything, as all is within the unlimited controls of changing Council staff as other reviews attest.
They shut down a local pinball parlour by trying to get more money from them by making them Change there zoning from amusements to sports and recreation, Shame on Noosa council using local tax and rate payers money to shut down small independent business that does a massive service to the community by supplying youth and families alike with good clean fun, not to mention bringing in money to the other business in the area for it being, I use to go to Noosa to play pinball on the regular and spend money at other shops restaurants, accommodation and such. Well now it seems my money isn’t good enough for the Noosa council Zoning committee so they will lose all the money I use to spend there. Think twice before you vote this Current council back in people. I have noticed a few other things about Noosa while I was there, after I was a resident and my Father was property owner in the area about 15 years ago it’s obvious that, tax payers money isn’t going to far the place quite frankly looked rundown, dirty and slumush, in my opinion.
