Food here,like in most cafes in NZ, is pretty average. To add insult to injury the prices are jaw dropping for the volume or standard of food served. This is NOT a fine dining restaurant so prices should be more realistic and reflect this

Yes, it is just as good as the previous reviewers state. At first I wasn't sure because the menu has just some basic fare, but THAT is exactly where this place shines: no-nonsense, basic dishes, prepared excellently!!! We ordered the cauliflower fritters (best we've ever had!), the open face steak sandwich (perfectly cooked, HUGE steak on fresh bread!), and the chicken quesadilla (extremely tasty, full of veggies and spices). Then, every dish came with shockingly fresh salad: crispy, colorful, and with a simple vinaigrette dressing. On top of that the coffee was excellent, and the kids' meals delicious and wholesome. Oh, and they serve breakfast all day, which is awesome when you crave some bennies at night. This place is a DESTINATION!!

Slightly set back from the main street, No. 6 Alexander Road was fairly quiet when I had a meeting with a friend. Outdoor seating area is sheltered with lots of shade. The service and ambience were good - coffee and cake were nice. Nothing amazing to write about, however I will visit again.
