4 rooms were booked at Hyatt Regency Brisbane by my family and we checked in on 20 January 2023. A maxi-taxi drove us through a back lane to the hotel. I was surprised that the 'entrance' of the hotel was in an ally. The check-in was good, with no hassle. However, we were given rooms on the 5th floor with no view - had shed-like appearance that blocked the very small view if you can call that. This was disappointing as we made the booking well ahead in December. We had paid $916 for two nights for each room. I requested for a better room higher up and this was not entertained, I was told that the hotel was full. A room that looks into nothing is claustrophobic and should not be allowed. To make it worse, the TV turns off after about 20 minutes and takes a long time to restart again. We would have preferred a King-size bed as our 10 year old grandson was staying with us. We were given a room with a Queen bed and it was a tight squeeze with 3 on the bed. $A458 per day is exorbitant for a poor-quality room.
Middle class hotel that says it’s 5 stars, big downgrade from Hyatt Regency hotels across the world. Rooms are old and cheaply renovated and you have to ask for your room to be serviced or it will not be done during your stay - at the price point this is not acceptable. On the upside, the location is great and front desk is efficient. Would book again if rooms are less than $200 a night.
The staff are very friendly, helpful, & welcoming. The room was nice and clean and had a comfortable bed. The room had a great view of the pool and city and the property is very central and within walking distance to many attractions.
I've stayed here twice traveling for work from the US on extensive trips and really enjoy the hotel. This hotel has everything anyone would need when traveling. The staff housekeeping, front desk, restaurant management are all extremely caring with any and all requests I've made. Very professional, clean and a great central location! 10/10 will stay again
I'm sharing my thoughts on my experience up to this point, which includes day three out of seven. My stay at this hotel has been disappointing!! While some staff members were helpful, others were disinterested and unhelpful. The lack of information regarding the hotel facilities and trading hours during check-in was surprising, and when I called to inquire, staff members frequently responded with "it's a good question" to even simple inquiries!! The blankets in my room had a musty smell, as it had stayed wet for too long. Despite multiple requests for an additional blanket as I wasn't feeling well and felt cold, they sent us a mattress protector instead of a blanket, as apparently there wasn't even one extra blanket available in the whole hotel!!!!!!! My partner and I required an extra desk and chair as we were planning to work from our room for a week, but despite several requests, we received no communication regarding availability. Shockingly, we were informed that there were no chairs and tables available in the entire hotel for us to use!! When I inquired about places to visit on our way to Gold Coast and Byron Bay, the front desk team had no information available!! On the positive side, the location of the hotel is superb if you want to be in the middle of the city, and the swimming pool is good. Regarding parking, there was no parking available at the hotel during our stay. We had to park at the nearby Myer parking, and each time we entered or exited the parking lot, we had to pay, which can add up quickly. The room service at this hotel is horrendous, indicating that no training has been provided. We were shocked when they took away our extra blanket without asking us, and they didn't even leave us with one towel!! Furthermore, they didn't change the bed sheet even though I noticed a night before that there was a bit of blood from my finger on the sheet which they didn't change. Is this really a 5-star hotel? The lack of attention to detail and basic amenities is disappointing. Also my husband found broken glass next to the pool, which was a concerning safety issue. Unfortunately, there was no one around to clean it, so he had to take the glass to reception and ask them to send someone to clean it. Overall, my experience at this hotel has been disappointing, and I'm not looking forward to the rest of my stay. The poor customer service, subpar accommodations, lack of helpful information, and unavailability of basic amenities were frustrating.
I really loved this hotel. Yes, the rooms are a little on the small side, but it is in the middle of the Queen street mall- it is to be expected! The staff were excellent, the room was very clean, the pool area is nice. 11am check out and breakfast included! We will definitely be back!Rooms: 4/5
Unhygienic and Disappointing Stay I recently stayed at the Hyatt Brisbane for one night, paying a steep price of $360 for one Sunday night, and was expecting a clean and comfortable experience. Instead, I was met with an unhygienic and disappointing stay that left me feeling deeply unsatisfied. The doors and shelves in the room were coated with thick layers of dust, which is particularly concerning during the ongoing COVID-19 hygiene issues. It's alarming that basic cleanliness standards and sanitization of high-touch surfaces were not maintained, especially given the premium price. Additionally, the TV remote was sticky, making it uncomfortable to use and further raising questions about the overall hygiene practices at this hotel. This lack of attention to cleanliness is unacceptable and made my stay unpleasant. As if that wasn't enough, the bathroom was missing essential amenities like body wash in the shower, and the bar fridge was half empty upon arrival. These oversights only added to the disappointment, making me question the level of service and care provided by the hotel staff. In conclusion, my experience at this hotel was marred by unsanitary conditions, poor attention to detail, and missing amenities. I cannot recommend this hotel to others, as the quality of the stay was far below what one should expect for the price. Look elsewhere for a more satisfactory and hygienic experience. Rooms: Filthy. $360 for one night and completely unhygienic.
Staff are lovely but quite average overall. Cannot get the TV to work at all in my room. Bed comfy, pool bar the best feature. Breakfast buffet a bit meh.Service: 4/5
dirty room, got moved when we asked for it. told us someone would come up and help with the bags immediately, nobody showed up, had to ask again. room less dirty now but can’t close the bathroom door fully. loungechair along the pool have been removed for an event, so the pool can only be used while sitting one of the like 8 normal chairs they have. half of the staff really nice, the other half really not caring about the customer at all. just way too overpriced for what you get. wish we could leave just now. completely dissapointing. wish we could leave right now and wouldn’t have to stay and pay for three nights.
The first night we arrived, it was quite daunting as the entrance is towards an alley-way. It was very unwelcoming with construction going on. So a bit confusing at first… The main reception is at level 2. Staffs are all quite nice except one an asian old gentleman with no hair was quite rude to other customers in terms of his responses. We saw the gentleman talking to two other older guest in the afternoon Sunday 12th march with same tone and he is always frowning and looks unhappy. We just stayed cleared of the reception area to avoid dealing with him. Otherwise, we are generally quite happy with the services and amenities being provided. Breakfast was great and the location of the hotel is in a great spot!
