Me and my family travelled here last night and we met a uncomfortable discrimination case in this supermarket in Wanaka. 3 teenagers around 13-15years old walked and came up to us and suddenly shouted loud to us and my kids were scared and we felt this was a discrimination because we are Asian. I asked them strictly what the problem with you then they just quickly ran away acting like innocent. It's a shame such case happened in this country and these teenagers are psycho
A shout out for exceptional customer service.nEden served us twice. 1st she was most helpful directing us to the raw chicken. 2ndly we were served by Eden at the checkout. She was absolutely genuine in the questions she was asking us about what we were cooking for dinner. Customer service at it's best!!
We shopped here in January 2025 when traveling thru Wanaka. New World was well stocked with reasonably priced groceries and ready made meal options
Disappointing Experience of Racial DiscriminationnnOn December 16, 2024, around 8:16 PM, I experienced unfair treatment at New World Wanaka. While using the self-checkout counter, a female employee closely monitored my actions in a way that was noticeably different from how other customers were treated.nnI was purchasing some fruits and had just weighed them when, without asking for my permission or explaining her actions, the employee took the bag from me to double-check it. After that, she stood right next to me with her arms crossed, carefully watching every single item I scanned to ensure I had entered everything correctly.nnMeanwhile, other customers were left alone to complete their transactions without such scrutiny. It was clear that her actions were targeted specifically at me, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unfairly singled out.nnI hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses such discriminatory behavior to ensure all customers are treated with respect and fairness.
