The restaurant adjacent to our hotel was booked out for breakfast, so I found this place online and booked a table. Set in a very pretty part of Kawana Island, with easy parking. A lovely waitress greeted us for breakfast, with perhaps a Greek accent? Not sure. The coffee was exceptional - given that I don't take my coffee with milk or sugar I pick up on bad coffee rather quickly - my double espresso was amazing, and served in a glass rather than a cup. I ordered the chorizo shakshuka, and my wife her usual Eggs Benedict. Decent portion sizes, and the shakshuka was very generous with the feta. My wife found the avocado slices instead of smashed odd, but that's just her being fussy. The one big disappointment at breakfast was both our eggs were overdone - to the point they were nearly completely hard yolked. It was my wife's birthday lunch that day with family, and true to form my mother in law was screwing her nose up at every option until my wife mentioned this place. You can't book less than four hours in advance online, but a phone call had a table for eight sorted easily. Pork belly with a prawn topper for both of us. Lovely jus, and for $8 ended up with six decent prawns. Crispy kale added a nice texture. The pork belly had spent too long under the broiler and was burnt on top, but its lovely texture and flavour made up for this minor transgression. Well worth the drive to Kawana Island.
Great place for coffee, cocktails and food with a beautiful view. A real family feel at this place and dogs are welcome on the patio area!Food: 5/5
Lovely venue and beautiful lady who served us, we would highly recommend this place. Also very reasonably priced.
Great area, nice views of Kawana water way, nice spot for a drink.
Greeted by the owner who appeared grubby and totally unfriendly. After some effort he pushed two tables together to seat 10 of us and we never saw him again or any other staff for that matter , there was about 5 other patrons tops and saw no requirement for bookings.. Our friend went and got some menu’s, waited 5 minutes but no one came so we all walked out ! Went to another place who seated us with ease and fed us within 20 minutes with ease and a smile .
Walked by at 7am for a coffee, Mikey was setting up for the day on his own. Busy already. Reservation for 6 in the evening Mikey is still on his own, but cooking waiting on tables and mixing drinks too. Sensational food, awesome service for a one man show in a busy restaurant. Definitely recommend.
Nice atmosphere. The food was good here. I was also stunned by their sticky date pudding. So yum. The staff were friendly. We went there at night and we realised that there is an artificial beach or real? and an amazing river view next to the restaurant after finishing dinner. Would like to visit again in the morning enjoying a sunny vibe.
We had high hopes but were very disappointed The location is amazing, word of mouth was positive as well However... Even though the patio was mostly empty when we arrived, we had to wait for a table to be cleared It took such a long time for anyone to approach and take our orders that we thought we had to go to the counter and do it ourselves The drinks hadn't arrived after 15 minutes and we had to ask for them - but were brought our entree plates but no entree instead When the drinks arrived, we were given a glass of wine, rather than the bottle we had ordered I ordered pork belly, but was told about 25 minutes after placing order that it wasn't available I switched my order to the steak, but after a further ten minutes was advised they had only one steak left, and someone else on my table had already ordered steak, so I needed to make another selection I eventually ended up with the squid When the steak arrived we were assured it was medium rare - it was medium well, leaning towards well done When the bill arrived, we had been charged for the bottle of wine that had never been served The whole experience took hours and we left feeling extremely disappointed
I went to buy a take away coffee and possibly a gluten free treat from here. I asked what was gluten free and the staff let me know. As I was thinking about what I'd like to order the cashier said "I'm sorry but it's really busy" as if I have to rush my order. I found it incredibly rude and I've never experienced such rude service at a cafe. Not impressed.
I feel bad for this place because it's such a beautiful spot. Waitresses are untrained and unprofessional. They seem to enjoy being snappy and condescend with clients and the guy in the kitchen which I believe is also the owner is rude and aggressive. I witnessed him confronting a client, rudely came very close towards the surprised woman and very aggressively told her to leave. I couldn't believe it. I've never witnessed such a behaviour and it was totally unnecessary. I'm a local and I won't be back. Please make yourself a favour and go next door. In the good days you'll wait, wait and wait for very average food and coffee and in the bad ones the owner can be aggressive while the waitress smirk smile in the back. Mykies if you're unhappy please take a holiday, hire a business coach and mature adults to work with you.
