This museum is definitely worth a visit It’s only $12.50 for adults and is a wonderful account of the Chinese history in Australia Just quick walk through Chinatown and down a side lane and a whole new world opens up The staff are really informative and happy to chat There are several rooms to go through explaining the history including the famous gold rush to descendants. There are many artifacts at I see and let’s not forget the magical dragons A great way to spend a little time. Perfect for kids also
This is a great little museum, packed with interesting items to look at and things to read. It’s split over multiple levels, and has a fun little walkthrough section on one level. The staff were polite and friendly, and it was one of the cheapest activities we’ve done in Melbourne. We went on a Saturday morning and there were only a couple of other families there, so it was a nice break from the crowds!
It’s well organised floor plans front top floor : chinese australians from past to present, 3rd floor is about Han Dynasty prosperity and ancient/replica artefacts of Han era, then down to 2nd floor : fucyional rooms for meeting, toilets, then Ground floor where locates the museum checkin, souvenir shop snd exhibition about lion dancing, drapn dancing, finally, lower down floor is exhibition about life of migrant chinese during Gold rush period in Australia.
The Museum of Chinese Australian History is a great educational place to learn about Chinese Australian history. There is an interesting exhibition that will teach you about Chinese migration to Australia during the times of the Gold Rush. Throughout the museum, there are some fascinating and interesting pieces of art and overall, the museum is a great place to visit and learn about the history of Chinese Australian people and culture.
It's very hard to find an activity that makes everyone in the family happy and we were a group of 6 that ranged in age from 11 to 76...however the Museum of Chinese Australian History ticked all the boxes for everyone today. We spent about an hour looking through the various exhibits over 3 levels and everyone found things that interested them. The treasure hunt map especially was a great touch as it kept the 11 year old engaged, lured by the promise of a prize at the end. Shout out to the lady working the front entrance, she was super friendly and very lovely. If you're in the city with friends or family and are looking for something to do after eating a big meal and you're too full to head straight to a cafe for cake and coffee, I highly recommend this museum. The entry fee is well worth it.
A great place to visit. You could spend hours looking around here immersed in the history and the colours. Well worthwhile visiting.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure

I can’t recommend enough this museum for a visit . Not only can you learn about Chinese and Australian Chinese history, view some pretty amazing artifacts, experience a boat trip that was undertaken by people in their quest to find gold and become rich, you will also be greeted by the most friendly staff members. I totally loved my experience today and will definitely explore further Chinese history and culture.
Good information on the Chinese culture. Probably will take 30 mins to go through everything. Friendly receptionist, just buy tickets when you get there.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
