Order a vegetarian meal there. 3 star for the serving speed, they have everything ready and they just serve it. Food taste was not good enough. I was almost cloaking with amount of salt in Dal makhni. Naan was cold, Rice was seasoned with some oil. Food quantity is okay. I felt that they use a lot of food colour.
UNDERMINING photos- but THE most delicious, flavourful, perfectly spiced, and most reasonably-priced Indian food out of like, 8 other nearby Indian places that come to mind! The staff are also just freaking lovely, and so warm. The naan is also incredibly fresh and doughy, and both garlic and regular are vegan! Also have a lot of side dishes for vegans -and they’re NOT just 90% oil or sludge unlike most places doing Indian nowadays- it’s so fresh and fulfilling to eat here.
This shop continues to serve dine in meals with a plate of rice together with a single use plastic container of curry, even after I’ve said to them multiple times that I don’t order food there for that reason. It also costs them money and actually makes it harder to eat the meal! At a time when the government has just legislated the abolition of many types of single use plastic though sadly not for this purpose, this is hugely wasteful and irresponsible to the environment and I will continue boycotting it, despite the less than appealing range of other food options at Broadway shopping centre where I eat almost daily.
Very poor taste. Had tikka masala, other than spice you could not taste any other flavours of the spices. Chicken was juicy but had no flavour from the spices. After looking at reviews I would agree with the majority of the opinion.
A rip off, you cannot mixed food in one container is something, then they give you just curry instead of meat is another. I gotta speak out loud to remind them to fkcin give me more meats and stop just pouring me the curry soup and the staff seems scared and upset!! I wish the worst of luck may this store shutdown soon LOL
Unfortunately my daughter and I both had food poisoning after dining in. None of the phone numbers listed for Mumbai Express are connected, so I am unable to take this up with the restaurant until I am next in Sydney. I have selected 1 star as I am unable to post zero stars. Being ill was not how we planned to spend our time in Sydney :
I still can't believe how small the portions are at this place. This place is extremely expensive for very small portions. Also, please is not well-kept. If you look for a restaurant where you can be overcharged, look no further this is the place! Can't believe how cold the food is! Never ever coming back to this place and you should never spend a dollar here! Not even for a drink!!!!!
I am an Indian by origin, home to a place called Pune in Maharashtra. Our cuisine is most definitely one amongst the high rankers in aroma, vivid taste and high levels of heat. No offence to anyone else, but if someone from this region complains of spice levels, it should most definitely be considered. My visit to Mumbai express was a disappointment and to a large extent a disgrace to India. I requested something called 'Vada Pav'. This is an Indian street food item, which has gained immense popularity due to its simplicity yet mouth watering flavours. In India, business owners selling this dish are majorly of the lower working class - specifically the labour class, and sell to clientele ranging from the lows to the highs. This dish defines the region of Maharashtra, its culture, the hospitality of the people and India as a country. Believe me, what I experienced at Mumbai Express was a shame. The sales woman asked me what I wanted and was somewhat puzzled after hearing my response. In a way where she wasn't sure if they had any in stock. She went back to the kitchen brought one out in her hand and chucked it into the microwave, kept out near the counter. To put this into perspective - The real vada pav is deep fried fresh in hot oil before being built in a milk bun and then flavoured with sweet/ savoury sauces. This stale potato ball was then thrown into the microwave and heated to steam, then chucked into a withered bun, doused with red chilli paste and given to me. I cannot describe the level of heat that this chilli paste brought to the existent ordeal. This is not an exaggerative review, but a sincere pain experienced not merely due to substandard food, but because of the misrepresentation caused to my food, culture and country. If you're keen on trying Indian food, kindly avoid this place and Do Your Own Research before selecting a restaurant.
After eating this place, I wish I could do a 'zero star' rating. Guys, please, put someone at the counter who actually want to deliver a reasonable service! We are not asking for a five star service, just smile and acknowledge your customers. No need to be snotty and rude. Presentation was very poor. They literally threw my food on the tray with sauce spilling on the tray. I wonder why didn't I look at the reviews before eating here. Food quality was less than average and yes it was overpriced. Would not recommend and will not eat there again.
Got a combo meal. Staff is very scared of the shop owner. Got 4 small pieces of meat and all curry soup. Staff hand was shaking trying to not scoop up meat. Happened more than once, not going there again.
