I’ve been wanting to check Ms Elwood our in a long time as I constantly see their ads on Facebook and it’s just five minutes from home. Finally today, we scheduled a dinner date with friends - the deal was All You Can Eat Dumplings, Chicken Wings, and Fried Chicken as long as you purchase any Drink. They have a list of $10 Cocktails. They seated us straight away, even though it was relatively busy. I asked the staff member how the All You Can Eat deal works and she quickly explained it to me, which was great. Shortly, a few dishes arrived. The Dumplings were all completely tasteless. You have to smother them in Soy Sauce and/or Chili Sauces, so you add some flavour to them. The Chicken Wings were boiled and also tasteless - we had one each and just left them on the plate. The Fried Chicken was the only thing we all agreed that we liked, so that was the only plate we finished. The Cocktails were average at best. I started with a Lychee Martini, which was tasty, but very weak had very little alcohol in it. I then ordered an Espresso Martini and, as soon as it arrived, I could see it was gonna be bad and my first sip confirmed it - it was undrinkable. The cutlery was what you get in low quality Asian eateries i.e. wrapped disposable wooden chopsticks.... We saw that they’re bringing out new types of Dumplings to the surrounding tables, so asked if we could have some too. We were told that we can’t as we still haven’t finished what’s in front of us. I politely tried to explain that some of the stuff on the table aren’t to our taste, but the waitress just said, “Sorry!” and walked away, which left us all speechless... I just said to my friends, “I guess it’s time to go then!” - we went to the counter to split the bill and left. Won’t be back!
In response to a really good set of Facebook event notices, a group of five of us decided to try out the Sunday late afternoon special, of a $5 cocktail choice of 4 and $1 plate of dumplings. So I had a quite decent lychee martini, and a whole plate of prawn flavoured gyoza to myself. As did each of my friends. We were a little surprised at the venue since it turned out to be a local Elwood shopping centre Japanese restaurent. I think we had expected something a little more bar like. But still good. We stayed for about an hour, and it was a pleasant, satisfying if noisy time. The happy hour ran from 5pm - 6.30 and was obviously very successful. The place was crowded and the noise was a happy chattering noise. Not sure that I would go back there as it was obviously meant to attract a younger crowd, but it was a nice thing to do on a cold Sunday evening. Keep an eye out for those facebook events as they offer very good specials. The next promotional event throughout June is for all you can drink cocktails for $25.
Amazing cocktails! Food is great and reasonably priced with loads of options. Super friend staff. Great atmosphere. In a great area too. Loads of specials during the week like $1 dumplings! How can you go wrong!
Waited 25min for this takeaway. They told me 10min. 2 veggie bao buns and edamame. They only had 4 tables and the food was sitting at the front for about 10min before front staff realised to serve. Very unorganised and doesn’t help when you busy taking food and tables across to the Joinery cafe across the road. Focus on your own customers or you will quickly loose them. Also the filling wasn’t great on the buns. The Edamame was tasty but also shy on the portion. The venue is really cosy and give credit to the designers but need to be more focussed on customers and not be to shy with portions with better quality or you will loose your local customers.
$12 all you can eat dumplings?! bring it on!sadly no pan fried pork ones our fave, still good value, but don’t ask for vinegar lol. cute mood lighting.
Great service. After a few table changes, Ms. Elwood accommodated well for us. We had the Wednesday cheap dumplings that were delicious and we were able to sit for ages enjoying the outside street area.
All you can eat dumplings, or how long can you wait to starve to go and eat elsewhere?! Staff are 100% unorganized, could have sworn it was all their first day! SO SO RUDE! Filthy crusty utensils and lipstick marked glasses earned us eyerolls from staff, no apologies! All you can eat dumplings advertisement is BS! It is advertised as $15 all you can eat dumplings, then $30 for included cocktails! It is $30 for cocktails by themselves, no advertisement of needing to order a drink to get the dumpling deal by itself either! Staff just shrugged and said "Oh well"! Even when we BOOKED the table and clarified everything, no mention of any 'terms'! Here's an idea, sort out a system for all you can eat only, like happy hour! We waited 40 minutes out of our 90 minute all you can eat time frame for our 'second round' of dumplings which was one bowl between 5 of us that consisted of maybe 10 dumplings!
Had booked in advanced for 7 on a Saturday night 1/9 only to find that they had overbooked the place, forcing us to wait outside for almost an hour. When we were finally seated we were crammed on a table designed for 4 people which was uncomfortable to say the least. We went there for the unlimited dumplings which were advertised for all-day, however, it turned out they finished at 4:00pm. The cocktails weren't great and while the food was alright, it took ages to come out. Overall, it was just a slow, crowded and uncomfortable experience, stay away if you're looking for an enjoyable start to a night out.
Espresso martini tasted like mocktail. Dumplings were kinda cold The vinegar they brought was white cooking vinegar The ‘all you can eat’ was more like ‘all they were willing to bring us in 1 hour’ The pan fried dumpling should be renamed to pan dried dumplings. Service was very very average and the 4 cans of soft drink we ordered were all warm!!!
What lovely place! I went with a friend for their all you can eat dumping night. The food was excellent. Even though it was very busy the atmosphere was fun. The real star of the story was our server Jose, he was wonderful! He took time to chat and make us feel welcome and was just a really fantastic server. Will definitely be returning~
