To the right of the carpark, stunning high views offer a glimpse of the valley and the treetops. An ideal spot for a picnic. The arboretum is not like a landscaped park, it is just a wild and natural grove of trees where one can enjoy a slow stroll among a wide variety of enormous, interesting trees. A few are labelled. I also found the driv from Ferntree Gully, on Dandenong Tourist Road, utterly charming.
