We had a great night here! Food was good, tasty and simply filling. Staff service was quick and polite. Drinks well priced, kids menu available and also if you can't finish your dinner they prep it up for you to take home. Wasn't too busy for a Friday night. Ordering and time for entree and mains was quick and food hot and plates can be hot depending on which meal you order. Great place for a couple, family or group of friends, great food. Parking: Parking area is small, watch out when reversing because kerbs and low and not marked. Wheelchair accessibility: No marked disability parking, though easy access.
Informed 10 minutes after ordering and the arrival of drinks that the kitchen had run out of chilli verde, which was the whole reason for the visit. Should have left at that point. Jalepeno poppers were raw crunchy peppers. Not sure if that's how they're supposed to be. My fiance's enchiladas were cold in the middle. My chiili com carne was was hot, but didn't seem very fresh. Can't fault the service from floor staff and the margarita was great.
Always great food, atmosphere and service. Yes the wait time for food is typical of a restaurant that make its meals to order. Lovely experience. Watch the sangria as it gets you drunk from the feet up!Food: 5/5
Was pleasantly surprised. It looks a bit old and dated from the outside but on the inside it seems very lively and well within the theme of the restaurant. It had a good choice on the menu and the items that we had were very tasty and there was also plenty of it. The staff were well trained and extremely helpful and willing. A great experience thank you.
All I will say is that if your looking for great service with a smile and decent Mexican food, keep moving. We dropped in for a casual meal Saturday 18 Feb, approx 5.15pm after great experiences at the Taringa store. We ordered a simple burrito and nachos and two Pepsis. The nachos arrived with minimal topping or flavour and had to ask the waitress four times where my partners burrito was. The entire serving team hid behind the bar ignoring our requests. The burrito arrived half an hour later with no topping, sauce or seasoning. We approached the server, asked for a refund with her response being “you’re not the only one”. WOW! We were gobsmacked that anyone in a service environment could respond like this. The server rolled her eyes, sighed and attempted to blame us for requesting a refund!!! To the proprietor, may I suggest you jump on the floor, take a long hard look at your business, the absence of service and the pack of ignorant servers losing customers and wasting people’s money and yours
Upon Arrival we had to call for the staff to come out from hiding in the bar area. Service was only OK. The meals have gone up to be a little expensive. The staff look like un made beds and seem disinterested. The place has very little vibe or welcoming feel. Mt Gravatt store was the trailblazer for this chain, alas it is not there anymore. Head Office need to come and invest time and training into this place! Hire fresh staff that have exoerience in customer service and set some expectations put upon them. Parking: Good Parking
Montezumas used to be my favourite restaurant for over 20 years however lately it has really declined in recent years. The starter was really beautiful although the corn chips were really thin and each one broke each time we dipped it in the cheese dip. The nachos with garlic prawns used to be my favourite dish, however this is the second time I’ve had this lately where the prawns were hard and rubbery suggesting that they were either pre cooked and reheated or way overcooked, both quite insulting to anyones tastes. The rice was soggy and not a decent serve for a full size plus way too oily and there was hardly any jalapeño mix, no matter how much I scraped around trying to find some. Again the corn chips were so brittle they would not hold anything without breaking. The side salad was so tiny for $8 quite disappointing. I paid over $80 for two meals we both didn’t enjoy and sorry to say I will never be back to Montezumas ever again in the future. Plus, why the hell do you not serve coffee or any hot drinks especially when it was about 10 degrees in there!!
Order taken over phone but no record of it when we turn up. No apologies and no allowance other than the “guy was new”. Another family Friday night dinner stuffed up. And when we ring the restaurant to discuss while our child waits for the meal we get hung up on. Pity the poor owner.
Read a lot of reviews before going. Some pretty bad ones on here. We went in early 6.15pm once decided on what we wanted, I went up to the waitress; from other reviews, it took a long time for someone to take their order, I bypassed this and just let her know we were ready to order. She came right over. Food came within decent time. I got the large nachos and it had 16 corn chips, I actually ran out of corn chips and that was heaping the bean chicken mix onto each chip, maybe just a couple more chips would have been perfect. Other than that it was yummy. My husbands food was good too, looked small but filled him. Nice place.
Growing up I've always eaten at Montezuma's. This was our first time eating at this particular restaurant and we were not dissapointed. The Mexican here beats all others. I can highly recommend the San Antonio, the jalapeno sauce alongside sliced jalapenos give the dish that extra hit. It also comes with olives and sour cream. You can always order without jalapenos if you prefer! The staff here are welcoming and kind. The atmosphere is perfect for that cosy first date or family gathering. I will definitely return here soon.
