A very small shop with no seats.nVisited and bought leatherwood honey croissant and montblanc kouign amann.nBoth of the were amazing. Kouign amann was soo good. Crispy, sweet.nCroissant layering was beautiful and the honey made it even better.
Omg this was the best croissant in Melbourne no doubt! Specially the honey sea salt one I couldn’t stop biting into it! The place is a bit isolated but it worth the visit. Go for ittt
ORDERED:n Pancetta, Smoked Raclette and Kraut $12.50n Tomato, Onion and Ricotta salata with capers $12.00n Leatherwood Honey and Sea Salt croissant $7.00nnBetween two, it was $15.75pp.nnREVIEW:n I really enjoyed the flakiness of the croissant. There's thin layers once you bite into it, that melt in your mouth when it hits the warmth and the moisture. Being brutal, I reckon Melbourne croissants are better than the squishy soft France croissants!nMonforte Viennoiserie do great croissants but the leatherwood honey was too sickly cloyingly sweet for me. My friend liked its sweetness though!nn A big failure is cold cheese. You can't go past/save cold cheese from feeling like an anchor in your stomach. The Pancetta, smoked raclette and kraut sounded like it had so much potential, but nothing can save a drowning cold raclette or the overwhelming wave of pickled sour kraut.nn Favourite by default, would be the tomato onion and ricotta. I love the amount of flavour in this compared to the other two, and its tart form was fun to eat.nI like my capers punchy, so felt like it had more potential to shine through here!nnThere's no dining area so it's very much a takeaway store. Limited selections, the soft serve was somehow UNAVAILABLE at 12pm on Sunday. Medoubts whether anyone has ice cream at 10am, but there was still plenty of pastries available on offer at 12pm with no line!
@MonforteViennoiserie is a pasticceria specialising in small batch pastries of the croissant variety made out of a small kitchen that looks like a little canteen. Don't let that fool you as they look highly appealing. I was there first thing at opening to secure freshly cooked items straight from the oven. The leatherwood honey and sea salt croissant is superb. One bite in and you can appreciate the layers of buttery pastry, a very slight honey glaze that does not detract from the flavour of the pastry and a touch of sea salt to accentuate the flavour of the pastry and contrast against the honey. The poached quince, hazelnut, and goat's kefir was the other pastry chosen which was also delicious. Soft poached quince with a slightly sweet accent surrounded by dark golden layers of delicious light pastry made for an enjoyable breakfast.nn#bakery #pastries #croissant #leatherwoodhoney #poachedquince #breakfast #Foodie #melbournefood #northcarlton
One of the best croissants I’ve had in Melbourne! I really enjoyed the Mango, Elderflower & Fromage Blanc! Go get ‘em ASAP as they change their menu monthly :
