[A few months ago] the proprietor (Indian) was going about his business while his 'wife' sat to the side people-watching. I requested a quote on leather espadrilles, I bought overseas, requiring resoles and edges glued. I briefed him on what I wanted done making sure to point to each part I spoke of so that there was no miscommunication. It was my intention to get the order right so that there would be no doubts later on especially since these were expensive shoes and could not be replaced easily. I mean come on, I don't know who I am dealing with. He may be the nicest guy on the planet but that does not mean he is "Mr Cobbler: - just saying. Besides, he may be the cobbler's father covering for him while he stepped out. Anyways, as I gave my instructions on what I would hope he could do he kept cutting me off. I was not confident he could remedy the problem. It was rude how he acted even though I kept my composure while speaking in a respectful manner. I finally lost all trust in this person when he blurted, "I'll speak when you finish talking eh" I looked at him in disgust then glanced at his wife sitting to his left and then grabbed my shoes and left shaking my head while smiling at them. Conclusion: from experience if you ever get into a situation where you do not feel good about closing a deal with anyone - just leave. I have always lived by 'the customer is always right" - a concept that some business owners still cannot come to grips with. BTW, as I turned to leave he started speaking in his language loudly - I recognized his behavior as someone who is compensating for (whatever)
