EDIT: the aircon regas lasted 5 days. Bruce did a super dodgy job on our aircon. Five days after the regas, we had to PULL OVER on the side of a highway because the gas started leaving a valve he installed. This is criminal incompetence and a total scam. Called him- was told it’s a coincidence it’s failed right after he touched it. $242 for an aircon regas. Need I say more? Not an assessment. Not a repair. No parts used. A regas. Gas only. Absolutely miserable ripoff. Dissed my car on pickup for an issue not relevant to the transaction whatsoever, just a random dig. Go literally anywhere else.
Urgently needed a starter motor repaired for a very old motor in a forklift. Dropped it off at 8am and recieved a phone call at 9am it was working and ready to pick up. Thank you Miles Auto.Service: Electrical
I went to Miles Auto Electrical to get some work done. The reception area looked like a dog's breakfast, there was an alternator on the front counter and it was really dusty. The guy who greeted me was callous and rude, he seemed disinterested. He did the work, which I timed, took just over half an hour, but he charged me 80 dollars for some soldering, total rip off. A day later, the issue came back, so I went back and I told him about it. He said he'd have to look into it further, the next day, because he was busy, but it wasn't under a guarantee from the work he did originally, so he couldn't guarantee he wouldn't charge me more. The place also has signs that say they will keep your car if you don't pay and all damage is at the owner's risk. Obviously they don't care for their customers, their customer service is atrocious, typical Mackay auto worker crap, they have a monopoly so they do what they want. You're better off going to another place. Absolute rip off.
I recently had problems with my thermostat gauge not working all the time in my 120 series prado. The problem was not able to be fixed without replacing all the gauges. Bruce gave me the advice and option to install an after market gauge instead at a much reduced price compared to replacing the dash cluster. It works great and looks good to. The price was less than I expected and all the work was completed on the same day. Thank you Bruce and the miles auto electrical team. I’ll be recommending you to my friends and work mates. I’m looking at buying some spot lights so I’ll be booking in again soon. Cheers
Absolutely terrible. The alternator on my boat malfunctioned so I bought a new one in Airlie Beach for about $250. I thought I would try and fix the old one as a spare but with my few tools I couldn't get it opened so I took it to Miles Auto. I asked the man I suppose he is Bruce Miles if he could fix it. "Yes" he said. No mention that it would cost as much as a new one. I also said that as it was a spare, no need to hurry. "Ha, ha! You shouldn't have told me that" he said. Two weeks later I've heard nothing so I go back to enquire how it is going. "I'm waiting on a part" he tells me. Two months later I've heard nothing so I go back. "Yes, here it is. I tried to phone you. That will be $260." Well he did NOT try to phone me. If he had there would be a record of it on my phone. Anyway I've paid up thinking to myself that was false economy, and taken it back to the boat. A few weeks later I've swapped the alternators over on the boat to make sure the repaired one works and what happens? The alarm goes off - still not working. Swap them back again and take it back to Miles Auto. While there I ask Mr Miles what the part was that was replaced - the brushes or the diodes or the bearings? He tells me he didn't need to replace any parts, just push one of the brushes back into place. Hmmmm, thinks I. Your labour costs are expensive for a few minutes work. Two days later I go back having heard nothing and am told he bench tested it and it is fine. He says the problem is probably my connections to the alternator. I take it back to the boat, swap them over again - taking extra special care to ensure good connections - and the alarm goes off. Still not working! Remember that the alarm does not go off when the other alternator is connected, only when the one "repaired" by Miles Auto is connected. Fed up with Miles Auto I decide to pull the alternator apart myself. The bolts are so tight and seized I have to drill the heads off. Looking inside there is no indication that this alternator has ever been opened since its manufacture. So there you have it. Miles Auto are incompetent, slow, expensive, liars and cheats.

good old school service, our alternator gave up whilst on holiday, these guys managed to fix it on the the day, thanks heaps!
