Bought a bracelet end of August and needed to get 2 links removed. Told it would have to go to Brisbane to get done and I was advised to become a V.I.P member for a better price to get it done. Have bought all my jewellery at MH stores but never had this problem. It is now 4th week and still no bracelet.... Absolutely wouldn't recommend this store.
At this store, my fiancée and I and our friend experienced possibly the rudest display of behaviour by a salesperson that we’ve come across. Be sure to avoid a staff member named Laura if you want avoid a bad experience. She was absolutely awful, inconsiderate, rude and gaslit us to our faces, lying about information she had told us. Dan and Robbie were kind and helpful. This would have been a one star review had we not eventually after three attempts spoken to Dan, the store manager, who was polite and helped with what we needed. This, however, doesn’t detract from what was ultimately the store’s incredibly poor communication regarding very important store policies and specific information surrounding the items our engagement and wedding rings we purchased. Moreover, we were shown no empathy or a basic level of respect from Laura, who on the contrary, initiated an argument with us over incorrect information that she gave us and was incredibly belittling.
The manager here is possibly the rudest woman I have ever dealt with. I have been going to Michael Hill for approximately 25 years+ and in just about every state of Australia and NEVER have I been treated like this woman treated me. She is rude. Condescending. Dismissive and arrogant. 3 times we went there to satisfy our diamond warranty and all 3 times she was the same other staff were nice and seemed equally uncomfortable with her attitude and even the way she spoke to them. I have not lived in a town with a Michael Hill for about 2 years now, so not only did I have her attitude to look forward to BUT I had to make a lengthy trip specifically to Toowoomba as it is my nearest city to where I live just to get them to look at the ring every 6 months. Well, I've given it 3 goes with this store and I will now drive even further just to avoid this shop. I am due for my next 6 monthly check of about $15 000 worth of jewellery, or I wouldn't be going anywhere near Michael Hill at all. The way I feel at the moment, I will not be spending any more money in a Michael Hill store as I can see by previous reviews here, that this rubbish "customer service" is still happening in this store.
The new management of this store I found to be passive aggressive and rude. I’ve been a long term customer of Michael Hill for almost 15 years, and a regular at the Grand Central store now for 3. Never have I felt more uncomfortable in store. Picking up my engagement ring last week which I dropped off two weeks prior and have done so since receiving it every 6 months for its inspection/clean, I felt interrogated and belittle by the manager, accused of trying to steal my own ring in front of staff and customers was very embarrassing. The passive aggressive tone of this man was awful. This came from my partner purchasing the care plan and not me. Never have I had this been an issue before, of course somebody else bought it.. it’s an engagement ring, which I dropped off and signed for. Can say I will not be returning to this store, I will source another Michael Hill to purchase from.
Went to get my engagement ring checked and a stone was loose so it was sent away, was then told they can’t reset it and they don’t make that ring anymore because they’ve had problems with it so I had to pick another ring and pay any difference in price which I did 3 weeks after having the new ring a stone fell out. Poor quality rings I was very annoyed with the staffs attitude through the whole deal.
Can I say I haven't purchased anything from this MHJ store. I'm writing this review purely based upon the action of one of the MHJ staff members who was a delight to see! I was with my little party of people outside the store sitting on the sofas for a moment at the end of a looong day... in taking a photo of the others in my party I noticed her big friendly smile and laugh directed toward us. That smile was literally all that was needed to make my day that much brighter. I was lucky to immortalise her in the background of my photo... no I won't be sharing, so her identity will remain confidential. Sometimes, all anyone needs is a SMILE! Thank you!!
My partner and I got a new engagement ring ordered after taking the old one back because it was too big. When I took it back, I spoke to a girl who served me. She asked my phone number and details to let me know when it's in the store ready to get picked up. She specifically said that they were going to give me a call. They also had all my partner's details who purchased the ring. We called them yesterday just to find out how things are going. They answered that the ring is already there AND has been there for 4 weeks already. We both went through our call logs, I received no calls from them whatsoever and my partner had 1 missed call after it arrived. So we received it today, 4 weeks later. When we talked to a woman with black hair who served us today, we got absolutely no apologies, nothing that would make us at least think that this is not how they usually operate. One worker said one thing and today we got told something completely different. This is an engagement ring, not a birthday present. I was perfectly fine with ordering a new one and having to wait longer, I understand these things take time. What I'm not happy about is that instead of getting the ring back 3 weeks later, we waited nearly two months without knowing what was actually happening. Extremely dissatisfied with the customer service, attitude and how they operate. Really made me feel like it was just another piece of jewellery to them and they couldn't care less about how special it was for us. Never going to purchase from any MH stores again and I am definitely not going to hold back my opinion about this place.
To the ladies who were working yesterday Saturday 21st December, I would like to say a MASSIVE thank you for your patience both with myself and my two daughters. By far, my favourite shop that I entered yesterday and I WILL be back. You made our day that little bit extra special and although my spend wasn’t big, you treated us as though we were making the biggest purchase of the day and guess what, we walked away with the biggest gift that day, the gift of kindness. I would most definitely recommend your shop and team to friends, family and strangers. Thank you again and Merry Christmas
I had a very pleasant experience at the Grand Central Toowoomba store as I have had at every store of yours that I have shopped in. I will definitely be going back in to do some of my Christmas shopping there.
Not happy with my service today. Lady was rude. I just wantedy warranty signed off and rings checked. I live in a place where there is no michael hill. Instead lady was rude. Gave me a bit of a lecture then palmed me off to another staff member. I will travel else where. With covid snd living out of town its hard to get paperwork signed off. Be a bit more understanding. It was under 2 months late not 2 years.
