I used to dine here on special occasions when I lived in Tasmania. Its been 2 years and it is still every bit as good as I remember. It has a good atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. They make you feel like serving you is an honour. It's definitely not the cheapest place to eat but the food is consistently good and not over-the-top expensive. The four of us had different items and there were no complaints.
Exceptional service and hospitality, welcoming friendly, efficient staff. Aesthetically pleasing environment with indoor & outdoor seating, and soft classic Greek music completes the experience. Fresh home-style cooking and authentic Southern Greek cuisine, with classics like κεφτεδάκια [meatballs] and κατσικάκι [braised goat], and everyone's favourite Greek lemon-baked potatoes. The μπακλαβά [baklava] was a standard for our end of meal dessert. Wine list, and traditional Greek aperitif Ouzo and Μαστίχα to awaken your taste buds or a nightcap. We made this our 'regular' for the majority of our time spent in Hobart. I highly recommend Mezethes Greek Taverna.
October 2022: Mezethes, the Greek institution of Hobart. Atmosphere is always buzzing, team are super friendly and the food is always amazing. This is as authentic as an Australian Greek Restaurant can get. If you want anything more genuine, you'll need to head to Athens. Vegetarian options: Vego can be done, but why would you when Greek cuisine is meat based. Kid-friendliness: Super friendly for kids Parking: Limited and first in best dressed on Salamanca Wheelchair accessibility: Limited. My first tryst with Greek cuisine . Absolutely amazing. We went for the set menu. The owner/ manager was one of the most welcoming people we have ever met. The meat platter was stunningThe beef kefthethes one of the best things I have had in a while. Definitely a recommend. Kid-friendliness: The manager was very welcoming of our daughter and accommodating us with a pram.
We had the most amazing dinner at Mezethes Greek Taverna yesterday! Not only the food was amazing and really delicious but also the atmosphere of the restaurant is TOP! It's like being in Greece! And the staff / service was extra. Everything was authentic and really great. Also we had a big group and Nastacio was so accommodated, we were so well received and we couldn't have hoped to be treated better. I would recommend this place for any occasion - dates, family dinners or big group dinner parties! Thank you for having us and all your patience with our big group, you made our night memorable <3
This is a very lovely family owned restaurant. When you enter you will be greeted by the beautiful aroma's of the delicious food as well as the chef's very kind and friendly son. This coming December this gorgeous mother and son duo will be celebrating the restaurants 20th anniversary. I very much recommend you order any meal that has lamb in it.
Fabulous food. Authentic Greek taste and great presentation. Although busy when we arrived service was prompt and we had our meals in minutes. Music soft allowing us to talk easily
