Nice place for a drink, shame the drink selection doesn't meet the expectations I have for this sort of venue. No craft beer... Maybe that's just me being fussy. What did disappoint was the tacos. Wednesday night is taco night. $3 tacos and $9 margaritas. Beware, the website and elsewhere say from 4-11PM. But in reality you can't get any tacos after 9:30PM just plan around this. To taco or not to taco. Chicken = taco Nice light and a little tangy, not really a Mexican flavour palette but still not bad. Pork = taco A nice pulled pork taco, not a massive standout considering others you can get around town but for $3 in St.Kilda it's pretty good. Beef = do not taco Tastes like some cheap minute steak overcooked, then tomato sauce on a tortilla. The pickles on top had zero tang really they seemed like limo slices of cucumber... Disappointing to say the least, I didn't finish it. Cauliflower = taco... But not a cauliflower taco The sweet potato dominates this one, not sure why they call it a cauliflower taco. It may as well have been called a vegetarian or sweet potato taco. That said it wasn't​ bad. Not Mexican in the least but not bad, the tangy broccoli on top was a nice touch too. Prawn = taco, but well... It's a fruit taco, lots of cantelope/rock melon, so much I could barely notice the prawns on there. The fruit just dominated the delicate nature of the prawns.
The venue is nice and the staff are super friendly but I wouldn’t recommend booking a party or an engagement here if you have 80 people or more, we paid the highest food options and we got told there will be food for everyone and a lot of my guests were outside enjoying the night, when the waiters came out with food it was from one location so the same People ate and others were left with nothing while I got told that they couldn’t serve the food outside and after constant reminders telling the waiters to feed the guests outside they ended up serving them only one platter of food at the end. It was very disappointing as one of my main reasons was not to leave guest hungry and still managed to. We were also promised that two platters would come out with the same foods but only one platter of each food came out, one platter of pizza to feed 80ppl? It was a joke. Anyways too late now but save yourselves and don’t let them rip you off.
We recently hosted a hens day lunch at Metropol and I could not speak more highly of the venue. The staff went above and beyond to meet all our requests and nothing was too much trouble. The packages and drinks are really well priced and the food was delicious. Nothing but complimentary reviews from our all guests. Thank you Metropol :
We bought a Scoopon or one of those other deal sites... cant remember exactly for the Metropol. $25 for Asian share platter, 2 pizzas and 2 drinks. We went with a friend and the place looked lovely, not at all busy though a bad sign! - the place nextdoor was packed. The asian platter was a concoction of deep fried rubbish spring rolls and samosas and very small for its $20 menu pricetag. The pizzas looked promising, but the Spicy Salami smelt AND TASTED like old socks! The cheese was completely flavourless, and 'spiced'?? I dont think so!. The other pizza spiced lamb was so bland... like eating cardboard. The drinks choice of wine, pale beer or cider was the only good bit.... cause it is hard to wreck something from a bottle! Needless to say we didn't stick around - we went to a great place down the road to eat a real meal. I know it was cheap, but the idea of those deals is to encourage return visits and to create loyalty; I wont go back there.
Food is good but the service not so much. Waiter forgot drinks and to replace plates after main taco round. I think it's because he spent the majority of time on his phone.
How appalling!! Your security staff are extremely rude and unprofessional, I have never been so humiliated in my life. My brother & family hired the venue out last night for his 21st & I was knocked back & questioned several times by number 13 security whilst there were young children in there. I will take this matter further. I will also notify the security company.
Wed $3 Taco Night is the BEST!! And the $9 margaritas are highly recommended. Semi regular here now :
This venue is great. Newly renovated, it looks amazing. Can not wait to hang out there over summer.
Very modern - except for "$20 minimum on EFTPOS mate" If this is the cashless "tap & go" future some business havent woken up yet.
$3 tacos and $9 margaritas on Wednesdays, everything tastes good!
