New Farm’s Merthyr Bowls Club is a popular playground for young and old. Perched on the banks of the Brisbane River and just moments from picturesque New Farm Park, it’s renowned for its relaxed vibe, river breezes, ice-cold brews, tasty BBQs and, of course, barefoot bowls. The quintessential ‘Brisbane backyard’ experience.

esday-Sunday 11am-1pm, 1-3pm, 3-5pm (nb 11am-1pm session not available Wed or Sat).

Front Deck available for hire ($200 fee) everyday except Sun.

It’s always great when you can have a work Christmas party and not get reprimanded after. The team booked the work party here, ostensibly to play bowls. However, after roughly 30 mins of playing it became clear that it was just a cover for us to sit by the river and drink beers for 7 hrs. Great outcome.
Great atmos, beautiful location, cheap drinks, good chips and the pokies pay. Only downfall is the bartender chooses to close up whenever he feels like it. Which is usually when I'm running hot!
The lunch menu is a tad boring and the staff not very helpful at all. The lady who took our orders was very unhelpful and looked as if she smiled her face would crack. The view was the saving grace.
