Mela used to be a regular place to eat for us a few years ago so it was nice to revisit after a long time. The place has had some renovation and looked good with a new bar area. The more formal section of the restaurant which used to be at the back is now sealed off. Whilst things have changed in the restaurant the food is still great. Tandoori chicken was melt in the mouth whilst the butter chicken was sweet and tasty. I had the non veg thali which offers a great selection of dishes to enjoy all of which were delicious. Mela has a great selection of Indian sweets that you can buy for $3 each or you can choose what you want in 500g/1kg boxes which works out cheaper. Parking in Northbridge is the usual pain but Mela is well worth a visit.
Obvious choice of restaurant for Indian food located in north bridge. Fine dining experience with lots of options, starters, main course. Parking can be a challenge therefore go before it gets busy or allow 10 min extra to find a good parking spot.
Nice food. Very fresh and served hot. Potato and Pea Samosa served with a sweet sauce. Lamb Vindaloo taste fresh and great. Not spicy enough for a Vindaloo though , could be spicier .Food: 5/5
It was not an indian restaurant but more of a sweet store. Because, my food had all the sweetness of the world. Yes, whatever I tried it was sweet. I order paneer makhani, it was super sweet, I could taste sugar in it. Then, in Chilli Cheese I couldn't find a single piece of cheese in it. It was paneer only, why don't they name it paneer chilli? And again, it was sweet, full of sweet chilli sauce. I couldn't think about ordering anything after it and take risk. I had better taste elsewhere.
I haven't been here for some years and, on returning, was pleased to see that the restaurant has been spruced up with a new floor, new tables and chairs, etc. It has a nice modern feel to it. Service was excellent and the improvement in the food was most impressive. I have had both the vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis. Both versions had a variety of generous portions with garlic, bread, rice and a dessert. There is also an interesting street food section in the menu. The food was flavoursome and filling. I like the improvements made to this restaurant and look forward to a future visit. Also, it's open for lunch which many Indian restaurants are not.
One of the best tandoori chicken in Perth. Your naan basket is too good and kadhai paneer is next level. Thank you for serving such nice food.
Went here because the wife was wanting a Dosa. We had the masala version. Dosa was good but little on the chewey side. Masala was a little oily, but tasty, not too spicy. The chutney was ok but not great. Though the sambar was faultless. Also had a mango lassi yellow!? which was also slightly odd taste, but not unpleasant. Overall, I guess it's personal taste, but I've had better, hence 4*
The best butter chicken I’ve had in Perth and the second best I’ve had in Australia. Sauce was thick like it should be and full of flavour. Delicious chicken. Paid 19,99 for a set full sized curry + rice + naan via Deliveroo, that’s a bargain, awesome value for money. One con - the chef did not really follow the special instructions I requested, I still really enjoyed it so it’s not that much of a big deal.
We got the thali, me the non veg and my partner the veg. Amazing feed, I couldn’t eat it all. Fair to say I didn’t walk out that place, we rolled. The food was good and the beers were cold! Well priced as well Five stars would recommend.
Mela was our go to restaurant for dinner during 3 night stay in Perth. We loved the food here and we would definitely come back when we visit Perth again. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: There is a variety of vegetarian options
