Avoid if you want proper Indian food! We had a really disappointing experience here. From uncomfortable chairs to poor service to mediocre food all at a rather steep price aswell given the serving size. Oh and they charge you for takeaway containers! While we arrived at a time that did not exactly seem busy based on how many people there were. We ended up waiting over an hour for our meals. And During that time we had to repeatedly ask the waitresses for some serviettes and an extra cup and cutlery. When we were ready to order one of the two waitresses approached us and when we began to order she suddenly informed us that it was her first day and then took off. The other waitress ,who appeared more experienced, then came and took our order and while she did repeated apologise over everything right from the start it’s really no excuse for management to have untrained staff and charge what they do. But let’s for a sec forget the service …i m kinda salty cuz I had to pay a public holiday surcharge for this ! anyway I went there to eat right ! We ordered the chefs special chicken curry : very toned down spices. Methi chicken: requested spicy but it tasted sweet somehow. Tasted more that they just tossed in some dried fenugreek leaves in a cream sauce and called it a day. Beef aloo: barely any beef pieces that was also tough. Also sweet somehow ! Chicken Biryani: very heavy on mint. Tasted more like mint sauce. Can’t believe they called this a biryani. Three different curries dishes but somehow in the end it all just tasted the same. We also tried their mix tandoori platter which was forgettable. Given all this the naans were good. And lastly I felt they were just too pricey for the experience we had. I would class this place as Indian food more for the western palette that s not used to spice. If you r after a proper indian meal best to skip this place.
Local Indian restaurant located in stand alone suburban building next to the Foodworks. I have never been to India before but to me this is the best Indian food in Melbourne by far. The butter chicken is smooth, creamy and full of flavour. The goat curry compliments the butter chicken perfectly adding a spicey kick. Always consistent and when you see Indian families munching away as well, you know what you are getting is authentic and amazing. Staff are friendly and make you feel very welcome. Prices are on the higher side but will continue to be a regular and support this deserving business!!
Hands down, some of the best food I’ve had recently! They use the freshest ingredients and make sure each dish is done the right way. If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll love this place! The menu has a fantastic selection of dishes, and we loved everything we tried. We only had good comments about the food. I can’t wait to come back again! The staff is incredibly accommodating for minor changes and goes the extra mile to ensure guests are happy. Bravo! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. The entire experience was wonderful, from the delicious food to the attentive service to the charming ambiance. I’ve been to many similar restaurants, but this one truly stands out. The attention to detail and commitment to guest service set it apart from the rest.
Mehfil exceed our expectations. I’ve heard a lot about this place from family and friends and thought I’d try it myself while on my trip. Not only was the staff polite, they went above and beyond to ensure me and my family had a great experience. We had kids with us so of course the kids were getting loud and we felt bad but the staff reassured us no one there minded and they even interacted with our kids and joked with them. The food was exceptional. The spices were the perfect amount and they listened to our spice levels as we all had different demands, lol. We didn’t get the feeling of being over stuffed which was refreshing considering most Indian restaurants cook with a lot of heavy ingredients. My experience at Mehfil was remarkable and Kudos to the Chef!
We went to Mehfil restaurant last night with my family. We loved the Restaurant very much. The food was absolutely fantastic and so delicious. The staff were extremely friendly, efficient, and very knowledgeable about the menu and the food. The price was very reasonable compared to other Indian Restaurants. Great place to go with a group of people and won't be disappointed. We will be definitely going back to the Restaurant again.
One of the best Indian Restaurant. We have been to Mehfil Indian Restaurant many times and every time we had a great experience. Delicious food, amazing services and a positive atmosphere. We liked the food so much that we even hired them as caterer for my Kids 10th Birthday party and once again they did a fantastic job . Highly recommended.
I have ordered through uber eats and waited long 50 minutes for the same. I have ordered kadhai paneer as I’m vegetarian but got served with butter chicken instead. Quite unhappy with the same as it is completely not acceptable. I hope the management be mindful next time. ThanksFood: 2/5
Would not go anywhere else for authentic and delicious food.The meat is always cooked to perfection along with the sauces and spice. Every dish I have had has always been up to the highest standard. I don’t crave many takeaways but I’m always up for a curry from Mehfil indian restaurant, highly recommending this restaurant.Food: 5/5
Came the other day when the electricity was out, the owner took care of us and made us really delicious meal. It was very kind of the staff to serve us and open the kitchen for us. Have been visiting since 2001, and has been favourite ever since then.Food: 5/5
Truly a local hidden gem! This is my go to for Indian food on ubereats. Hardly choose other places because the flavours and texture isn’t quite the same. Personally prefer curries by Mehfil! I’ve also come to the restaurant directly to order and there’s always plenty of people doing the same however it isn’t usually filled with customers in the restaurant itself. Have always driven by and thought it was not running but the interior is very well kept. Tonight I decided to go and eat in the restaurant for a change. Ordered a lamb veg curry with naan. Reasonable price and appropriate wait time. Food was so fresh better than delivery since it had space to breathe! The service was so hospitable from the get go. Consistently checking in and adaptable to customer needs. Only let down was that there needs to be more people there in the restaurant
