For a very long time Maxi IGA in Castlemaine was one of the only two supermarkets both being IGA as Woolworths has now arrived. But, there's something to be said about an independent grocery, especially this one - with it's huge range of products from well displayed fresh fruit & vegetables on one end to kitchen wares on the other and everything in between! plus its very own extremely well stocked delicatessen area...they really do have everything. Combine that with parking spaces galore and the many helpful and friendly staff & customers! and you might just ask yourself, why would I go anywhere else?
For years I have been coming to Maxi IGA, the staff were always lovely and I enjoyed them, unfortunately I can no longer go in their without feeling like I’m a problem, reading previous reviews this definitely goes way deeper, sounds like there’s many people opting to shop elsewhere due to the decline in service and it also sounds like they hadn’t been paying suppliers.nnI find there’s a lot less staff on likely because of the Woolies and the staff they do have on tend to be incredibly rude and they act like it’s a chore to help you, like it doesn’t cost more to put the nice people on instead? there’s a couple nice/funny ladies and a couple shy young ones who are nice but a majority of them aren’t terribly rude, I’m not sure how to put it, it’s like they tolerate your presence but their objective is just to get you out, I’m an older man and sometimes the chat I have at the supermarket is what gets me through the day, I’m not even asking to have a conversation or anything I just want them to care, like I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be their job, a few weeks back I got yelled at because apparently I should’ve known they were all out of potatoes, literally all I said was “hey are you out of potatoes or am I blind?” And this lady got mad at me over it, is potatoes a sensitive subject? Was she right to yell at me?nnI’m still against going to Woolies so I will go to the little IGA instead if I want to be treated like a human, it’s sad because the prices have gotten better, seems to come at the expense of the service
I'm from the other side of Victoria NE Gembrook way .the food I bought from the deli was so fresh I thought I might sell up and move here .potatoe salad and pasta salad.and other items .should try it was cooked supperb. Fresh and I was thinking dammm this is good hence me adding a review.
Just letting customers know that as a supplier of wine to this business we have not been paid since April with a total of 6 outstanding invoices. We have been told by staff that we won’t ever be paid which suggests this business is trading insolvent. Not sure if the IGA brand is worth anything but this local regional business is ripping off local suppliers and as usual still overcharging local and loyal customers. Suggest customers shop elsewhere!
Maxi IGA is scamming me!!!!!nEverything is so expensive and so overpriced!nToday me and my friends went into IGA and we were walking down the lolly aisle and everything was on sale and something catches are eye immediately so we walk over and on the Mars bar fun size pack it says that for special it is seven dollars and the original price was seven dollars. This is a full on scam and I’m very disappointed in IGA.nnOne star.nnHello again, I am back with another not so great review. Again IGA is scamming me.nToday I bought some doughnuts from IGA and if you go look at the photo that I posted you will see why I am disappointed and don’t even get me started on there prices nnAgain one star
