I have been here a few times pre Covid and it was always a safe bet. Tonight was just awful. I had the rack of American ribs. They had been pulled from a bag and wiped with BBQ sauce, they looked like boiled meat, the blood had formed and congealed to the shape of the bag. No effort had been made in the presentation, it looked like a dogs dinner. The sauce had no viscosity and just ran off in to a pool on the plate. They had made no attempt to render any of the fat and there was a lot or caramelise the sauce…..this was lazy cheffing at its best. I was not asked about my meal at any point. Saw the sign asking for review, and here I am, it was probably better this way as it would have been embarrassing for all if I had complained. My employer was paying, so I was not too concerned about value. But you need to know, do not waste your own money here.
Had dinner at this establishment as it was attached to the hotel I was staying in for work. The meal and service was excellent! I enjoyed a medium rare eye fillet that was cooked to perfection and the service was attentive without being intruding as I am sirw fellow single work travellers will appreciate.
Generally a busy cafe where service can be a bit slow however that is more than compensated for by the quality of food and the friendly staff. Conveniently located on the ground floor for the quests of Oaks Rivermargue. Open 7 days for breakfast and dinner but not lunch.
The young dark haired woman working behind the counter really needs to find another job. She definitely isn’t interested in serving customers in a restaurant and is extremely rude and incompetent. I don’t like to give bad reviews and I know everyone has a bad day but this girl was rude to us every time we walked in the door over the week we stayed at the Oaks.
Went here for my birthday tonight and can't say overly impressed, waited 20 minutes after being told to sit before having to go looking for q menu despite being the only table not eating. No apology for the wait and menus were essentially thrown at me. Than proceeded to wait 30 minutes or so over for a fettuccine cabonara and calamari. Portion sizing was a joke for the price for the calamari was over cooked. I tried to keep an open mind but over all 2 stars is pushing it to be nice. Not impressed and definitely won't be in my restaurant recommendations. A packed restaurant would have been understandable and there is no excuse for the poor quality for the pricing given.

Service was exceptional, food was absolutely beautiful, i think i will be coming back to Mackay just to revisit this place. Can't praise the chef enough awesome food
Bar service was excellent. But food was a disaster. So slow and overcooked. Very annoying when the place is quiet that you have to wait so long for a meal and watch the constant flow of Uber drivers coming in to get their food. Only 1 chef. Sorry, but the priority sb on your in-house diners - they’ve made the effort to visit you and are spending money at the bar.
Natalie was amazing. Don’t know how she delivered such great service with so many single diners. Really enjoyed my experience and the food.
Thank you Marque Bar & Grill, despite a phone app being wrong you guys really kicked it into gear to help. Awesome food too! I'd recommend you guys anytime and cannot wait until next time. Thank you,
