Friendly owners, huge servings of decent quality and reasonable prices. Having walked out of an establishment on the Manly Wharf after seeing the servings and prices for fish & chips, we wandered up to an old favourite, which has been in operation since the late 50's various owners. No regrets with that decision and we happily sat beside the sand and watched the people wander past. We both ordered the standard fried fish and chips. A huge piece of well cooked fish was provided and far too many chips. Circa $32 for two people. Next time? Two fish and one chips.
Chips were great. Fish 60% very thin, tasted very frozen, $11.50 per piece. Ouch. An extra $1 each for crumbed. $43.50 for 3 pieces & a $6 small sized chips. I’m sure rent is crazy expensive next to the beach, but a bit pricey.
The fish and chips were great, but the customer service and communication between staff with customers and staff with staff were horrible. I ordered fish and chips with salad. On the menu, it said $19, and the lady at the counter charged me $25 per order. I questioned it after I paid for the meals. The communication of the order was so simple, yet the worker and manager did not know how to handle a simple order. Everything is extra priced at this place. Yes, I understand that everything is expensive; however, what the workers did with the total amount of my order was completely thrown off their heads. No apologies were given. Terrible customer service skills. I let it go because I just could not get them to understand that I was charged too much for what I ordered from the menu.
Amazing food. I ordered the grilled barramundi with chips and salad. The chips were PERFECT! Very big piece of barramundi and I also ordered the best potato scallop I have had so nice I was a kid - a REAL one with actual potato!!!
Grilled octopus was marinated in a sweet sauce that was not mentioned anywhere, and it didn't taste great. The staff was not willing to do anything when we pointed it out, which made the experience very disappointing.Food: 1/5
on the first day i was at manly, I had the normal fish and chips. awesome. the lemon was fresh, the batter was smooth and crispy and the fish, fresh. the chips were good when hot and still tasted great after I brought the extra back. went for a revisit with my wife before I left manly a week later.
Outstanding first time lunch meal with surprisingly quick service given how busy it was! Plenty of choice on the menu ranging from a variety of fish and chips, burgers, calamari and prawns combos. Absolutely recommend the barramundi and chips, so flavoursome and cooked just right, not dry or soggy fish and/or chips. Located in the popular Manly corso, it's a walk away from the bus and ferry wharf stops :
We ordered grilled octopus, which was delivered in marinated sauce. We ordered plain grilled octopus and we didnt want marinated sauce. When ordering, it didnt state on the menu that the octopus is in marinated sauce and staff also didnt point out that that it is octopus in marinated sauce. When we pointed out that the menu clearly missleeds the customers, staff refused to remedy the mistake and said "thats how it is in Australia".
Customer service exceptional. Food was delicious. Cooked to perfection. Price was what you expect to pay. Would happily go back and would happily recommend them. The only thing I can say I didn't like was the potato scallops. But other then that highly recommend this place.
Got the fish and chips with calamari. The fish was really good and moist with crispy well seasoned batter same with the calamari. The chips seemed to be out for a while as they didn't taste as fresh. But overall I would recommend it if you're down in manly.
