Mair Park is one of those beautiful hidden treasures that once you find you always enjoy returning. From the vast native forests with towering trees and ferns, to the grassy flat picnic spots along the waters edge. A real gem in Whangarei.
This is my favorite park in Whangarei.. very relaxing and it’s huge.. it’s very nice for family picnic, duck feeding or just a nice fine afternoon with your book
Great walks, cool little bush Park in middle of town. One of those places you don't want to tell people about in case everyone goes!
Such a beautiful place to walk within the city limits. Quality tracks and walks for all levels of fitness.
I went to Mair Park for the first time this last weekend when it was raining heavily and I thought it was amazing! Very few cars in the car park, very few people. I would imagine though that it gets very busy in the summer when the weather is warm and sunny. The paths are well maintained, albeit those on the other side of the bridge going to the pa and up to the lookout were closed for safety reasons. Dogs are allowed on the leash.
Great family area, play ground for the kids and a public toilet. Lots of bush tracks where you can walk along the river or up to the top of Mt Parahaki. Feed the ducks or just lay on the grass and enjoy the sunshine
Wonderful walk, people swimming, fresh place to be
Loved being so close to nature with the ducks and the pigions. A very peaceful experience. I Love bush walks too, and Mair Park has lots of those.
Clean, friendly and scenic, ducks love the kids feeding them bread, often see parore fish swimming around in the tidal river too and also a pretty not too hard a,well for some, climb to shape up and get fit with beautiful views at the top of Whangarei and the harbour.
We came here at night so didn't get the full experience but from what we did see it was a nice park with a playground and toilets.... plenty of space to sit for a picnic!
