Been wanting to visit the place for a while and finally made the trip with my family to try the famous Melbourne croissant.nnLuckily the wait was not long only 10 minutes for our turn. I have heard before that sometimes you are unlucky when they are sold out for the day. So pretty good day for us all the flavors were available. We ordered the traditional plan croissant, almond, everything cream cheese and thyme croissant, lemon curd, and cinnamon. We also order a flat white, cappuccino and hot chocolate.nnLune’s croissant did not fail us, all the flavors were amazing, the crunch of the croissant was musical and the coffee was really good.nnI recommend this place if you are craving for a tasty flavorful croissant while in the city.
I wasn’t sure how high my expectations were finally making it to Lune, however, this was without a doubt, the best croissant I’ve had in my life. And I’ve eaten a lot, in France too. So many fine, crisp layers of buttery pastry. My only regret is not buying more!nnThe queue on Anzac Day was half a block long but moved quickly, I waited maybe 25 mins, but they have a good system of service and staff were all very friendly and kind. The store itself is a trendy, modern space. I also tried the Anzac Day special, the Anzac Ka, and this was delectable too! I’ll certainly be trying Lune in Brisbane now.
This is barely a 3, should probably be lower. I don’t do many negative reviews for places, but this deserves it. This is extremely overrated if you’re from or visited any big city with lots of good food options and lots of good bakeries. There was absolutely nothing special in looks, feel, taste, layers or anything to the croissant we got plain to know for sure. It was very average. My wife and I can’t understand how it won any awards. Go to Agathe or any other bakery if you want the same quality croissant or better. It also was ridiculously priced for everything. I’ve been to a million bakeries and this was by far the most expensive normal not counting super gourmet or decadent bakeries bakery my wife and I have ever seen. It is also definitely not worth waiting in that line. Service was ok. They seemed kind of annoyed by any questions I had, and there’s no seating, just a thin communal table to stand and eat your overrated food, too dim of lighting, and no garbage to throw things away so I had to stand around until I could get an employee’s attention to ask them what I do with my trash.
We arrived 20 minutes before closing and only had to wait about 15 min. In line, we met a lovely Australian couple who bought us our croissants.nnThe croissant wasn’t bad, but I don’t agree with the hype. I think it had too much air in it and wasn’t doughy enough. The flavor was flat, not buttery and not sweet enough. It looked very perfect but I have had better croissants for sure.nnNot much to say about service or atmosphere. I suppose the staff are just working through the queue as quickly as they can.
All pastries are half of the size comparing to the average. ham croissant was cold and vanilla, worse than average. almond croissant was good, more almond flakes than normal and has almond jam filling. Surprisingly, they don't have skim milk for coffee. It was not very hygiene letting customers eating in front of the operation table.
