Absolutely worth the hype!nLune never disappoints even have to queue for a while. We have tried the morning bun, almond croissant, and double chocolate croissant. The morning bun was the star for me as its crisp, buttery layers with the perfect hit of cinnamon sugar. It’s incredibly flaky on the outside and beautifully tender inside. Honestly, it’s the kind of pastry you dream about. Must try!!nnThe almond croissant is so generous with almonds and not overly sweet and a chocolate-filled creation topped with cream, which was rich and decadent, perfect for dessert lovers.
This is a review from someone who doesn't really like pastries and croissants unless it's really good .nWent here on a gloomy Thursday morning at around 8.30 AM, the queue looked daunting but it moved fairly quickly, around 10 minutes we got in. The staffs were wonderful, got loads of pastries to take back to the hotel. While waiting for the food, chatted with a lovely couple from NSW, asked them how they like it they love it.nThere was a cafe area but the area was not that big and most of them were for standing.nPastries were little bit on the pricey side, approx. 8-15 dollars per pastry. But hey, pastries are expensive.nWent back to the hotel to eat the pastries and the first thing we eat was the ham and gruyere, it was nice, the pastry was flakey and thin, the outside is quite crispy they were not heated, but it's good even if it's not heated, very buttery.nTried their famous almond croissant and yes, it is famous for a reason. Very yummy.nTriple chocolate was a hit too.nWe concluded that their pastries are good because of the buttery taste and the thin flakey layers.nI think if you go to their instagram you could do a preorder but not for this branch.nOverall, very recommended and not overrated in our opinion.
The service at Lune was great, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The croissants are definitely on the pricier side, and I would have liked the option to have them toasted given the cost. That said, I understand it’s a very busy spot so it might not be practical. Seating would have been nice, though I do appreciate the unique standing experience they offer. The option of sparkling and still water on tap is a great touch. We ordered two almond croissants, which were beautifully made and clearly high quality, but overall I’m not sure they fully justified the price.
Our second visit whenever we're in Melbourne—we just love their croissants! Perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. They offer complimentary still or sparkling water. There is no seating, so you'll be standing while you eat.
I first visited Lune in 2023. We went to the store in Melbourne CBD and lined up for 45 mins to get our pastries. Naturally when we got to the counter we ordered one of everything I mean why not when you have to wait so long. Every single pastry was AMAZING! I’ve never tasted a croissant or pastry in Australia quite like a Lune croissant! They are light, flaky and with delicious flavours, just how they should be! I purchased the recipe book and the story of the owner and her journey to opening Lune is fascinating but also goes to show how much there is to making a traditional croissant. The shop itself is very cute and a hive of activity. We spent ages watching the staff making the different pastries and it was so interesting. We have since learnt that you can pre-order online and collect in store from selected locations, so now pre-order a box of mixed pastries to take home to the family every time we are in Melbourne. Can’t recommend highly enough!
