Ever excellent Chinese restaurant situated in the heart of Macrossan Street. We've been coming here for several years and the standard has never faltered. Great range of international beers and wines. Service is friendly, attentive and efficient. As with anywhere in Port Douglas, depending on the time of year, it can be a good idea to book but more than once we've got lucky in getting a table even without a booking. Sweet and sour chicken is my favourite: lightly battered, perfect balanced flavour with just a touch of ginger shining through. Highly recommended!
This Chinese restaurant definitely exceeded my expectations.. even though they were under staffed, the staff was still so friendly and surprisingly attentive to their customers needs. They were full of energy and full of positivity in their service. The food was also awesome with nothing to fault.. we had the fried rice, sweet and sour pork and beef chow mein.. everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, just as I would expect in a high quality Chinese restaurant.
15 years we've been coming to Jade Inn and boy have things changed. Main meals started coming out before entrees. The seafood toast was inedible --- do not go there! Main meals took over 1.5 hours to appear, all arriving separately over 15min. Cashews are simply raw cashews dropped on top of meals. At what point we were told we had to wait quite some time for a cocktail because the kitchen was busy!? Was the bartender cooking the food? Asked for a second jug of water - it never appeared. Waitresses had no idea what meals they were bringing out. Food was below food court Chinese takeaway quality, for double the price. The excuse provided was "it wasn't our best night and I knew someone would complain. We had some people arrive early and we had some technology problems." I don't usually write negative reviews but this is simply not good enough --- recommend staying away --- there are plenty of great places to eat in PD. Unfortunately, this is no longer one of them.
Very clean beautiful restaurant with amazing meals. Menu accommodates for all walks of life and pallets. Our host made us feel welcome from the second we walked in. Highly recommend this restaurant to other tourist and locals. We found the food to be reasonable in price and would go back if we come back to Port Douglas again.Food: 5/5
Great food, great price and even better service. Really lovely locally owned restaurant who has a passion and cares about the business as a whole. Best food I have had in port Douglas and we went to 10+ restaurants. Good quality, fresh Chinese in which you know what you are getting and not pretentious like many others.The ‘mixer’ drinks are a cocktail yet half the price of anywhere else in PD. Returning a second night in a row as it was an extremely pleasant experience, especially comparative to that of other port offerings.
Jade Inn is a gem of a family restaurant, conveniently located in the main street of Port Douglas. The food is fresh, with ample servings, and delicious. The atmosphere is warm, modern and inviting. The staff are courteous, friendly and obliging. They have gluten-free offerings, so were able to cater for my coeliac diet. We had a really pleasant dining experience at Jade Inn, and would thoroughly recommend this terrific establishment to anyone looking for quality, yet quite reasonably priced Chinese cuisine.
My husband and I are currently on holiday from the Gold Coast, and have just enjoyed one of the best Chinese meals ever. The deep fried wontons were absolutely amazing so much flavour. The steamed dim Sims were cooked to perfection. We then enjoyed honey chicken and sweet and sour pork, along with a small special fried rice. All meals were prepared perfectly. Would happily come here again in a heart beat. Also the service was great. All staff were super friendly.
We visit this unassuming restaurant every visit. The food never fails to impress. The staff are always welcoming. Mongolian lamb, fantastic, beef & veg black bean so tender & prawns & veg garlic just great. Thanks again for another great visit. Fingers crossed for the family for June too!!!! The prices are frankly ridiculous for what you get. We nipped down for dinner, saw the prices and decided to go back to the apartment and cook something for ourselves. No biggy. The kids were upset they were going to miss out on fried rice so we order 1 large fried rice for them takeaway. It was $17.90, we thought man it better be amazing for that price. It came out in what is universally known as a medium size the circle containers, not a large rectangle one and is literally rice, a few peas, small amount of the finest bacon you have ever seen and some scattered egg thrown through. Tastes exactly how we expected it would after looking at it. So so happy we decided to give this place a miss and cannot believe the prices asked.
Mr. Kan at the Restaurant was very friendly, knowledgeable, understanding the need of costomer.. i requested for spicy food & it was made to perfection... My son 10 year loved the taste & that's the best compliment from my side...Food: 5/5
