Story

What is Lilette?
Lilette is a small part of France, created by 2 passionate French patisserie chefs for their very cute daughter, Amelie.
A ‘vrai’ Salon de The / Maison de la Gourmandise……………filled with the most extraordinary creations: French pastries, macaron, croissant, tart and exquisite chocolate confections.
Classic and simple using traditional French techniques resulting in a delicate treat that is not too heavy and not too sweet. Guilt free. Just perfect, really.
Uncompromising quality utilising sourced products such as biodynamic flour from Powlett Hill in (Campbelltown, Victoria) and Chocolate from Valhrona (Lyon, France).
Using their combined talents and experience as Pastry chefs (and Christina’s Masters of International Hotel and Foodservice Management from the Institute Paul Bocuse, Ecully, FRANCE) in Lyon, France over to the USA and back Australia, it seemed inevitable that a business would be born.
For Thomas and Christina its always been about quality and perfection. Thomas was born in Lyon, France (the gastronomic capital of France) and started his career with Marc Veyrat – one of the most famous chefs in Europe and considered by some to be the best in the world. Heading up the Patisserie in some of the best 5 star Hotels in France and Australia (Four Seasons in Sydney and Ritz-Carlton in the USA) opening up his own business in Australia is the realisation of a dream to return to Australia with his family. A 2 year stint with Shannon Bennett (Vue du Monde) as his head Pastry Chef was confirmation that Australians love and appreciate the quality and technique the French experience as a matter of course!
Christina’s love of France and the quality of products were encouraged by living in Lyon, sharing meals with her new French family, discovering the flavours and the authentic recipes which have been used in Lilette.
Now you can go to Lilette and feel like you have discovered a small part of France.
Don’t forget to say ‘bonjour’ to Thomas in the kitchen!

Wanted to have a coffee and do some work on a Saturday morning. Told can only sit outside that’s the rule!! After the response, all I can say is a quick coffee and one email inside can lead to coming back. I guess that's why others are so busy. Like you said the customers will decide. Thank you for replying
Those 3 stars are only and only for coffee although we felt coffee was overpriced compared to other cafes. They charged $6 for a small cappuccino which is not more than $5 at most of the places, even Giorgios isn't that expensive and then a $ for almond milk most cafes charge $0.50 for this We were doing a take away coffee but aparently i had to attend a meeting on the phone hence I sat inside the cafe but we were blatantly told that indoor sitting area is only for the customers who order food or you have to sit outside if you want to. I haven't seen this at any other cafe. I would happily respect it if it is a policy but this has to be mentioned clearly somewhere so customers can read it.
Best French pastries, croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin etc not only in Melbourne but even in Lyon and Paris that I've had. Recommended to me by french ex pats who said this is the quality they had when they were younger back home.
A great French bakery with authentic baguettes and delectable pastries. Highly recommend for any francophile/person wanting high quality French food. Friendly staff too.
Friendly cafe couple owners. Authentic French pastries you would love it. They serve very good coffee too!
Life is a journey of knowledge and experience. Balance Harmony Tension The Unknowing. Wise are those who seek to see past normality. Today I am wiser I thank you for that.
It's difficult to explain how unpleasant the owner of this place is. I am a local who tries to support local businesses. I have unsuccessfully attempted to purchase good from her three times and each time she has placed conditions on my order. The final time and the last time I will visit her premises I was abruptly told to wait outside for my takeaway order. .Being the middle of winter I declined and was ordered out of her shop. I have read similar reviews as to this ladies behavior so I would suggest giving this place a wide berth
I absolutely love this little place and the coffee is so good. I really don’t understand some of the negative reviews as they are always so friendly and warm. Their pies are so yummy and I always enjoy my time when I eat here. They are always happy to chat and have a laugh with you and cannot say enough good things about Lilettes
If I could give zero stars, I would. The “rules and conditions” this place imposes are absolutely ridiculous. When I asked “why the hurry?” she just said those are the rules. If I wasn’t with my heavily pregnant friend I most certainly would not have stayed. The place was empty and we had to order straight away and be out in 20min. No wonder it was empty. Grossly overpriced as well. I actually can’t believe they would get any repeat business. Wow, the owner’s response clearly indicates she’s in denial about her “successful” business. There are many bad reviews on this page as well as others. It’s not a coincidence, just saying. Maybe they should “ponder” on that.
Average sausage roll and coffee. Plus there is a major surcharge to dine in which caught me by surprise! I paid $21.50 for a sausage roll and small coffee...worst of all it was basic and nothing special.
