Some items would be expensive by antique shop standards and are ridiculously priced by op shop standards. The Lifeline shop just down the road in Drayton is much better value.
I will not support this lifeline store. Prices are ridiculous: 30$ for a saucepan, $300 for a jesus picture in a frame, $600 for two bedside tables. Granted they were decent items but it is absolutely greedy to charge this much for second hand items. Where are less fornunate families meant to shop for every day items if it isn't at an op shop?
I have been exclusively donating to Lifeline for nearly 15 years as I am a big supporter of their work but this store has made me rethink my choices. My partner and I were dropping off some items to donate when an old man in a newspaper cap stormed out and spoke to us like absolute dirt, he was not happy about where we placed a mirror. He then proceeded to snatch items out of my arms and yell at us about coat hangers . I told him very sternly that we were only trying to help and walked away quite disappointed. I understand that these people are volunteers and aren’t getting paid for their time but treating people the way this man treated us was absolutely disgusting.
I am not surprised by the other comments. Do not shop here if you're on a budget you have amart for furniture and kmart for clothes and other things. That's the price ranges you are looking at if you shop here. I had shopped there years ago and bought some awesome Christmas ornaments at reasonable prices. But nothing like that now.
OK!!!! HOLD UP!!! WAIT UP A MINUTE...... This place is the most expensive secondhand shop in QLD. I found a pair of used secondhand heels, head to counter......the shoes were not $4.50 but $45!!!! After questioning the counter staff about the price they proceeded to tell me the where brand new. Clearly they were not!! This is supposed to be a non profit organisation. I am in my right mind to take this further. This is not fair on the community especially in this financial crisis. Is the head of lifeline ok with this??? Who is regulating this disgrace?
How utterly disappointing to discover lifeline in Herries street is now a cashless store. I don’t support this move to become a cashless society. I’ve been in a town that shutdown for a week due to the Telstra tower being worked on. If you didn’t have cash, you couldn’t buy food or fuel. Shops had to close. You couldn’t get money out. Cashless society means no more money in birthday/Xmas cards for the kids, no more markets, no more fetes, sausage sizzle fund raisers, raffles in pubs to support local sports clubs. I prefer my cash thanks and if I can not use cash in your store, you have lost my business and support.
I went to school in Toowoomba and visit every few weeks and have been to this store a number of times in the hopes they will read many other reviews about their ridiculous pricing. They have a huge amount of stock usually. My sister and I did manage to score some items at great prices on a clearance table but everything else was so laughable. One item I saw there and later saw in an actual antique store was $50 MORE than the antique store for a small kitchen item. Who is pricing these??? I have seen used Kmart items priced higher than the original new price. It boggles the mind. I will say the staff I have encountered have mostly been lovely as far as customer service goes. Don't go here for a bargain though and definitely do your research on vintage items as you are likely to find the same item much cheaper elsewhere. I look forward to the day they come to their senses!
Hands down the most obscenely overpriced op shop in South-East Queensland. Their prices make antique stores seem like your local dollar shop. The only explanation I can come up with is that the volunteers intentionally overprice the stock to avoid selling anything and then having to restock.
This shop is so far out of touch with prices it's insane. You can buy a towel here for $3 and a brand new one from big w for $5. There was a small cane basket for $60! I thought op shops were supposed to make goods affordable for people for a struggling. The staff were helpful and friendly but I definitely won't be back.
I purchased 2 furniture items on the 9th May. The young lady who served me was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable in saving me transport costs and loading the items in my car. Her whole demeanour was so helpful and professional. I really appreciated being served by a efficient, knowledgeable and courteous person.
