Went for the afternoon high tea to celebrate our anniversary with a dietary requirement of vegetarian. The food was extremely disappointing. It wasn’t fresh. The deserts were really bad. One of the desert almost broke my tooth. The tea I wanted was out of stock. Found no creativity nor quality with the food. The waitress was very friendly. And good ambience. But for the price and the quality of food never going back.
Very luxurious hotel with fantastic classical interior design. I especially love their entrance staircase with water fountains. Breakfast buffet was great too. Rooms need a bit of upgrading and renovation. Otherwise comfortable The manager-like-looking lady dressed in pink blazer at the front desk when we arrived was being patronising towards her staff… significantly disrupting my check-in process before I had to personally remind her to just let her staff do their jobs….
Love this hotel. Stayed here a few times. Always most enjoyable. The location is fantastic on Southgate and close to the centre of Melbourne. The staff are polite and well trained. The rooms are tastefully decorated. We’ll definitely come back againRooms: 5/5
I stay at The Langham every few months with my primary school-aged child. The staff are always lovely and eager to help. The buffet breakfast is great although the congee needs work - bland and watery!. The pool area is lovely, and perfect for families as the pool isn’t too deep. I do feel like the quality of the hotel rooms have dropped over the last year. The showers are very tired and quite mouldy, which is rather unpleasant. They’re obviously not properly scrubbed between guests. The bathrooms also now have a mishmash of different branded toiletries, sometimes good quality, sometimes cheap quality. The toiletries box is often half-empty. The lovely full-size cotton bath robes have been replaced by short, cheap, polyester robes which are very unpleasant to wear. We can never seem to get fresh milk for tea, they only supply UHT. I also think the TV options need updating - it is 2023, but there’s no ability to connect to any streaming apps, and the available channels aren’t very interesting - lots of sports or low-brow comedy channels, and not much else. Hopefully the drop in quality is only temporary. We will stay again as we love the service, the location, the pool and the food, but a stronger attention to detail would really improve things.
We went for the High Tea on Tuesday. The food was exceptional and plentiful! We couldn't eat it all! Everything was beautifully made - the freshly baked savoury scones with sour cream and their homemade relish were out of this world!!! The selection of little cakes were creative and decadent and the sandwiches very tasty and soft. The low gluten options were great too. A perfect way to celebrate a friend's birthday - they even bought out a GF cake for her! 10 out of 10!!!!!
December 2022. Paid nearly $570 for a "Deluxe River King" river view room on the 19th floor, no breakfast included in that price. Absolutely not worth it! Won't be doing that ever again. The room was small and worn... showing its age. The service from the staff was that of a maximum 3 star place. We paid $60 per person for the buffet breakfast in the morning which was just "okay". The only thing that was okay, perhaps even good was buffet dinner, which was approximately $140/person???.
We enjoyed high tea at the Langham Hotel. The staff were absolutely fantastic! Attentive, always checking on guests to ensure everyone was happy and reviving what they needed. The High Tea was well presented and fresh. There were a lot of sweet options, it would have been good to have more savoury options available aside from sandwiches and a savoury scone as well as additional options of tea rather than the standard English breakfast, peppermint, camomile and green.
This hotel offers a 3 star experience dressed up as a 5 star experience, with the price tag of a 6 star hotel. The good - Staff working front entry were amazing, the lobby is amazing & members VIP lounge for breakfast with amazing views. The terrible - Hotel staff never answer the phone for reservations, it took 1 hour on hold to make a dinner booking, messed up dinner booking, took over 1 hour to get our bags up to room, outdated very tired rooms, dirty couches, torn/filthy terrace furniture, half dead plants on terrace, cob webs everywhere, carpet was worn/filthy. This was the most disappointing experience we’ve ever had at a hotel especially we expected this to be similar to the Langham experience we had on the Gold Coast. Really poor & sad experience not sure how to justify even a 2 star review.
When we were there all of the hotel’s technology systems were down. We found the service to be mediocre at best and the rooms felt somewhat dated as well. The hotel lobby is well decorated and pretty and the location is great, but we felt the hotel was underwhelming relative to the other hotels we stayed in across the west coast of Australia as a result of the poor service and rooms that felt in need of refurbishment
Real 5 star service by everyone from the porter to reception desk and other staff who will make you feel welcomed. Very nicely maintained rooms and excellent hotel facilities you would expect from any 5 star hotel. Great location and nice views of the city and river from the rooms. Buffet breakfast is always world class and the Chuan spa was amazing.
